I can feel your pain...During Katrina & Rita I stored my Max in the showroom at my office. The walls can supposedly with stand 175mph winds. Good thing we didn't get the chance to see if it would.

My mom's Murano got pretty beat up, though. (no pics)

Glad you are okay like everyone said it could have been worse. Liquid silver should be bullet proof. Take care and hope everything works out.

Of course your safety is most important and all that but I thought our Maxs were faster that some beyotch named Wilma.

Post us some pics of your "NEW" Max once she's fixed. Treat yourself to a new mod while she's in the shop. Also, I don't believe this was a sign for you to get rid of your Max- its a sign for you to add on to her to make her better.

When i was evacuating for Hurricane Rita, I had no doubt in my mind that my car was comming with me; thankfully though b/c my best friend left hers and unfortunally it is just about as bad as yours turned out to be,... just with some extra shingle sanding on every part of the car.... wonder how she'll get those scratches off of the windows... new ones i guess?!

Either way, all of these hurricanes are really doing a bang up job (no pun intended) on a bunch of people.

Again thanks for the positive coments but she is a lease and i really dont want to drop money into her that i cant get back besides she is a great car but im in the mood for something different and thats going to be mine instead of renting a car for 3 years but first i need to talk with the insurance adjusters and see what they say? im sure there is not enought damage to total her but a small tree limb might do the trick then im thinking truck??????? dont know why never owned a truck b4 but we'll see until they tell me what can be done. again thanks alot guys........and gals

Hail too

We just had hail through where I live (not too far from southern Indiana where the terrible, recent tornado tragedy occurred), but it didn't damage my Maxima (this time). I got hail damage three years ago on my previous car. I suppose no matter where you live, there is always the risk of some weather related damage.

I understand the need for a truck here in SoFla since there are sooo many big trucks and suv's on the road. It's getting harder to see what's ahead. But I like zipping around them real fast in my max...

p.s..I was one of the lucky ones that had a parking garage to keep her safe in.

I don't understand your post.

You say it's a pain in the butt to park your car in a garage, but I can't understand anyone leaving their car OUTSIDE in a hurricane! For cryin' out loud, if I had to leave my car anywhere in the general area of a hurricane, it would most definitely be inside, under cover of a very sturdy garage.

One of the things that most amazed me was the pictures during Katrina of all the cars sitting out on open parking lots! I figured those belonged to people who just wanted the storm to total them for the insurance money ...

Phew..... for a minute i thought i was getting flamed for not parking in a garage. unfortunately i now live in a condo and have assigned parking spots no cover from the elements. believe me if i could have parked inside i would have BTW i went to the ins. adjusters today and he said that there was so much damage that i would have to go back tomorrow for my estimate cause it was going to be about 2 hours for him to do the paperwork but by the look on his face its going to be around 13-14k or maybe a total i'll see tomorrow what the verdict is and besides that every body shop that i went to couldnt start work till end of january mid feb. so if it is a fix im still going to drive for like 3 months with this car looking this way.

Actually, I think we were flaming MiamiBlackMax, but you may not be safe yet. LOL.

If a hurricane is coming, and I can't find some kind of good shelter for my car, I'm driving it out of town. I mean, so much crap flies around in hurricanes that anything sitting outside is just a target for flying objects, and it doesn't take much to mess up a car pretty bad.

Take it downtown to an underground parking garage or something if you have to, but don't leave it outside in the open!
