Warranty Work...

I recently purchased an extended warranty on my car. I currently have about 43,000 miles on it and needed some work done. First off, my heat hasn't been working for well over a year and my dealer still cannot figure out what is wrong with it. I left my car with them for a couple days now and should get it back tomorrow and hope they fix the heating issue. In addition, they changed my front struts (had to pay a $50 deductible due to the extended warranty), and need new tires. My fogs burned out but they want $150 to change them ($34 for the bulbs and $116 for the service!) I told 'em they were crazy and that I'll do it myself. Anyone know where I can get some fogs?

I'll keep you posted on the status of my heating issue. Sure would be great to have some heat since it's single digits here in Chicago.

Ah yes... the wonders of the stealerships...

You can get the H3 bulbs at any autozone or similar shop. They're a pain in the *** to change, but there's plenty of write-ups here (check the stickies). There's no way they're $30 either...

And remember, even though they're a *****, it's $116 that you're saving...

Woodfield Nissan in Schaumburg. It's one of the biggest Nissan dealerships in the country but always trying to get your money!

i've been working up in hoffman estates/schaumburg since august and there is no way that's the best place to go from what i've seen - there is a whole lot of money in the schaumburg/woodfield area - i'm sure you could drive under 30min. away and find a better deal

Call Nissan. the struts are a known problem that I would hope are warrantied beyond 36,000. the fogs, I would replace myself, then call nissan to see which warranty the wiring fall under if they go again.

Since you're using the warranty, I would call another dealership to see how much it would cost to buy one without the $50 deductible. Then see how much you'll get for selling back your current one.

From what I hear around the dealerships the heating issue has to do with the thermostat and the radiator. I am not an expert in this area at all, but from what one of the mechanics told me the thermostat needs to be replaced and the radiator system needs to be flushed. I think this might be part of the "gurgle" TSB. It mentioned air in the system causing issues. The no heat at all seems to be a thermostat related issue. Hopefully I provided some insight to your issue. I was in the dealership not long ago and a woman had her early production maxima in there with a heating issue. The mechanic mentioned this issue to me when we were talking because my system is whacky. Between 61 and 62 I get a 10 degree difference in temp. The mechanic had no clue. Way to go Nissan/Mechanics...I would say more but can't.

I knew the thermostat had to be the problem. Just wanted to know if anyone had the same problem and what the dealership did to fix it. Thermostats cost $20.00 very minor repair.
