need some help

my car is acting up.

last night my neigbor came by and told me that my lights were on. I said WTF, so I went outside to check it out. the light switch was off and all, but the flashers kept coming on and turning off by themselves. I got in the car and found the lower half of the center console was also on.

I stood at my door step for awhile looking at what happens, and sure enough the lights came back on and off, sometimes even flashed like I'm pressing the lock button.

I unhooked the possitive off the batt for the night. I put it back on this morning and still the same problem again.

the car will go in tomorrow for a check up.

TEK..

My neighbor had this problem on his car, his window controls got wet and it somehow shorted out some of the electrical stuff and the lights would turn on and off by themselves. Just a thought.

not busting any b's, but why would the dealership be responsible for anything if you have done mods on the car? qnyway, hope you get it resolved asap. good luck!

Well if it's just water then it's not a big deal. It will dry out, and when it does it'll work just fine. My driver's side turning light got soaked when I drove the car to the body shop to get the replacement bumper installed, and it didn't work at all for 3 days. I was already looking at buying a replacement when all of the sudden it started working just fine...

Good luck with it though.

I don't think anybody's saying the dealership is responsible... but obviously what everybody likes is to be able to get something fixed under warranty, regardless of mods.

And in the end as much as they suck, the dealership should be able to troubleshoot a quirky electrical problem like this, so that's probably where I would end up taking it if it was me and I can't figure it out myself.

Hopefully it was some kind of simple short and they can fix it... whether it's under warranty or not.

Any possiblity of the key fob/remote gizmo, getting wet and shorting out, or bad battery? Maybe giving off faulty codes? I know it seems far fetched, just asking.

^^^yeah. I first thought maybe the keyfob needed a new battery or other problem. (actually first thought MAx was jealous of you driving trucks)

the water sounds like the likely culprit.

maybe change your settings so the keyfob doesn't flash your lights at all and see if it still happens. Then you'll know for sure that it's not the keyfob/alarm if it stops.

after a couple dry days if still possessed, if dealer won't fix it, guess it's off to insurance maybe.

What if the problem has absolutely nothing to do with your mods, remember, no one conclusively stated they knew what was wrong, ideas were just presented.

well, I called 2 dealers right.

the first I told him exacly what happened and that was we drove through a flooded street and the problems started. He gave me the 80 dollar an hour labor charge deal and no quote on the parts.

the second one I made it seem like I didn't know what happend to it. they asked me if I was under 36k wich I am and this that and the other thing, so I went to that dealer.

turns out the dealer could not duplicate the problem and such like always, but I think the water did evaporate cause its not doing it anymore and thats what I care about...

thanx fellas..

Ok Tek, You can send me my $120 for my diagnostic test that I ran and it took me 2 hours at $80 per for me to come to the conclussion that your problem had to do with water. A total of $280, Check, cash or Pay Pal accepted. Glad your ride is OK.

Hey Bad,

I believe I am entitled to some of that, considering I confirmed there was indeed a problem. What do you say we go 50/50?
