Low end power...

Considering I've been reading all this stuff about intakes etc taking away from the low end grunt of the car, and boosting its power a little more on the top end....whats out there that can help restore the low end power...and i dont know if its the weather or something...but for sure, 100% my tires dont shred off the line like the used to. when i first got the car and was inexperienced with it, i raced someone and my tires spun ridiculously...now i take the traction off and stomp it..its def not the same.

And I KNOW that ppl have asked if there is a power loss with bolt ons...thats not my question...my question is..what other stuff is out there to gain it back.

Disconnect the battery for about a half hour and try it again.

Wht 'low' end do you mean? (RPM range)? Here are 2 threads that relate to a few things in this thread.
IMO, any afc wont do much for off the line power.

AFC = no gain in that department since it's a b!sh to get WOT A/F from there, and in effect a b!sh to tune a/f from there.

17* best option, but IIRC your cars go back to 15*

I had timing done, honestly I barely noticed it....if anything it gave me top end as well....now what does IIRC mean?

I noticed that I clearly got off the line performance with my lightweight rims. Also, lightening the load with spare tire removal, smaller battery, lighter exhaust, etc will improve off the line performance too.

I had the same issue as logik05se did. I followed your advice and it worked. What would cause my Max, 7k miles, to loose the low end torque in the first place and what did disconnecting the battery due to get it back?

The car adjust to how you NORMALLY drive w/ a learning ECU. Disconnect the battery resets the ECU, nothing wrong w/ car.

If you want it to stick, drive like you're racing someone everytime I don't know if you get the ECU re-flashed would make any difference.

Well Chern, there are a number of options to reduce weight, that are viable options. Exhaust and rims are easy and significant. UDP is 3lbs of spinning weight. Flywheel is 15 lb of spinning weight. Optima battery will reduce weight more. After these options, there may be some drawbacks to remaining weight reduction items: spare tire and tool removal, lighter seats. I see an easy 250 lbs here altogether.

I like the idea of people modding their cars but im a little confused?...... are we making race cars out of a 4300LB luxury cruiser if so why not buy a smaller/lighter vehicle for racing purposes and leave the max a nice all around ride. just my .02 besides i cant wait to finally purchase a 1969 chevelle 396 big block / factory 4 speed woo hoo a friend might let it go to me for a nice chunk of change but its 70% restored. sorry for the rant of a race max but i like to cruise around in style and laugh at these lil punks with their riced out whatever trying me at every light

4300???? whoa mine only weighs in at 3625 including me

I've mainly been interested in weight reduction for gas mileage. Everyone (especially drivers of such cars like the Maxima) want it to perform it's best if that means quickness, power, mpg, or whatever.

don't worry, you're just as confused as the modded Vette and Camaro I raced which each only beat my stock "luxury cruiser" by a car length at the track. Now I was quite confused when I saw a 350Z running slower times than I was running

Now this isn't my racecar, but I wanted to know how well it does perform just to know. Go ahead and convince the older gen Maximas that it's a waste when they're getting closer and closer to 10sec.

right. So write them down. Same thing the dealer does (or is supposed to do) when they work on your car.

damn 13.8 for a vette is garbage...even its a stock non z06 C5 it should be runnin mid to low 13's.

A max rite behind a vette is pretty FU$*# awesome though...good stuff.

It deletes your radio presets and seat positions, mirrors and steering wheel if so equipped.

It does not delete nav or phone presets.
