Absolutely. I went with the ESP, bumper to bumper to 100,000km.

If my car can't be repaired the same day (or maybe next day??) they rent me a car to use while its in the shop. I had a problem with a sensor. They rented me a car for nearly a week. That was nearly the same cost as the extended warranty by the time it was totalled up with rental, insurance, and drop off costs. Not a bad deal if you ask me. And you get 4 free oil change (any Nissan dealer) coupons in the back of the documentation package.

I got them to throw it in as the last bit to entice me to buy the car on the last day of the month.

Cost is around $1100CDN to extend it to 100,000 and 4 years IIRC.

Fax a few dealers and see which one is willing to provide it at the lowest cost. Its heavily marked up and there should be some room to discount.

If I knew then what I know now I would have said give me Bumber to Bumper to 60,000k or no deal.

I'm sure you have A LOT of questions/concerns but if you look for old threads or seach (read rules Sticky) you will find more opinions/experiences than the few replies to your new threads.

I agree with BlackMaxx, I would have done things a little wiser with my purchase and got them to throw it in, but I did purchase an extended warranty none-the-less for coverage up to 100k. Don't remember exactly all the details with the warranty itself, but for me having that "piece of mind" was worth it, not to mention another vehicle i owned not having an extended warranty and putting money into major repairs after the original warranty expired whereas an extended would have covered it....

100% absolutely. With the quality track record of this vehicle, you better.
I bought mine day 1. And am I glad I did. Dealers tend to check whether you bought extended or not before considering Nissan goodwill.

There are also a lot of other benefits with it - such as roadside assistance, deals on hotels (saved a lot of money already with this feature). I once lost a windshield wiper on a very rainy Sunday afternoon (flew off the car), on a highway well away from home. No parts stores open at that time. So I stayed at a nice motel overnight, bought the part the next morning from Autozone and was on my way again. Nissan picked up the whole bill because I had the extended plan.

Of course, if you are leasing it like nearly 50% of owners, you probably don't need it.

 

well i brought the top of the line warranty that they had at the time, dealer gave me the deal and sold it to me for 1180 at the time of sale and had a retail of 2450. but it doesnt go to 100,000 miles though. i think its like 6yrs 72,000 but its bumper to bumper and since the sl is fully loaded i figured that it was a great deal would have for the nav or something to go out and see the repair bill and the rent a car service cant be beat. plus theres no deductible for the first 3 years and only 50 after that. so i would if you can afford it because you never know what freak things can happen

 

DAMN you bastarditos!! Now you got me worried and thinking if I should buy the extended for my car. Its been a lemon since the first week, but they quoted me $799CA for 100,000Km warranty.

Respectfully I beg to differ with you.

It is my nightmare to lease a car, have the warranty exprire and then have to replace something obscenely expensive like an AC compressor and rack up a $1000 repair bill in a hurry. Anything AC related is awful. Same with ABS and anything electrical related (skippy CD changer comes to mind too). You can rack up a labour bill like crazy trying to diagnose a small problem. Also the increased coverage for loss of use and whatnot has to be worth something too.

The only way I feel comfortable leasing a vehicle is if the bumper to bumper warranty covers me for the entire period of the lease. In my case the lease runs to 96,000km and my warranty to 100,000km.

You have till the factory warranty expires. 3 years or 60,000km to decide. Just make sure that is bumper to bumper, not just some crapy power train warranty extention, and that it is a $0 deductible.

I would stick with the manufactor sponsered extended warranty, Dealerships wont always honer the those other companies that solicit you in the mail. I think they have problems collecting for the work done.

as for the warranty... I'm taking my chances... my car is 2.7 yrs old and it is good so far! five yrs from now it will have its problems.. (minor)... agreed. but those extended warranties ... are they worth it for a new car??? (btw, the maxima is not a Neon/sunfire etc.)
