SHocks...KYB??

Did you guys know that KYB made GR2 Struts for our cars...front and rear shocks/struts. No adjustable. are they any good? or would the AT be the way to go with the KONI's? I need them and the Rear AGX's. I dont want to deal with Coilovers (finally decided) but the stock struts dont hold up to well with the Cattman stuff. I feel a little bit floaty at highway speeds. I want to scrap the stock stuff for better aftermarket components.

FYI-I posted the KYB struts a while back on the bad strut poll thread.
From other posts I have read I understand that the KYB struts are slightly better than the OEM ones. There aren't too many options out there right now. Glude, I too am eager to hear how the ride feels afterwards.

KYB GR-2's are meant to be just an OEM replacement. Our solution is a performance one meant for infinite adjustability in dampening.

Whats wrong with the COILOVERS? I think setup correctly no shock setup can touch a COILOVER setup.

One of my friends drives his Prelude on the track, he went from Springs/Shock to Coilovers. The differance was astounding, no bounce, no hop, no sway, just glue, glue glued to the tarmac.

The problem with coil overs i have found by talking with numerous indepedent sources including Progress is that the coilovers available for our cars are not good quality and do not last. True, they have tons of adjustability which allow for excellent performance. Once they go, you have to replace the entire unit, as they are sealed. This is my understanding. I dont know how long they last. perhaps those with coilovers can provide input.

I dunno...... but progress would say coilovers are not worth it as they are not in their product line.

Does anyone here have TEINS or anyother form of coilvers?

Go for H-Techs. I have some on order along with some Tokico Illuminas. From what I have read/heard the H-Techs are awesome and they last a very long time.

While is this mostly true. ie the GR-2 is not adj. KYB makes the Gr-2 about 10-15% stiffer then the OEM ones. BTW, This info is from KYB

Less chance of stock struts blowing with a good aftermarket one if your 'lowered'.

That sounds great, how long have you had them on and can I ask how mush and were you got them? I have cattman spings now on b/s oem struts would love to change to gr-2 but can't find them only for 2003 maxima. thanks

I find it hard to believe they are "smooter than stock". They are supposed to be 10-15% stiffer than stock. I'd expect it to have a negative effect on the ride quality. Can you expand on how they are smoother than stock?

What is the advantage to having adjustable shocks in the rear only? I would have thought that adjustable fronts would be where the real imrovement can be made?

We've found that the rears make more difference than the fronts (and it's cheaper). We usually recommend customers try the rears, and if they want further performance, upgrade the fronts afterwards. Many end up getting the fronts as well.

The rears do seem to make a big difference. Its kinda like adding the RSB, you can make it stiffer if you which is kinda a similar effect.

Which ones, the rear agx or the front Gr2s? Check active tunings website for the AGXs. I might possibly be selling my setup in the future since im trying out the ksport coilovers soon. Il have to wait till im on them to make my decision though because the ride might to rough for me.

Because we have front wheel drive cars, the best wat tp tune out the inherent understeer is to stiffen the rear. Thats why getting rear ones first is a great idea.
