300zx Brakes on 6th Gen Maxima

I bought a set of calipers off ebay and I ordered an adaptor bracket which allows the use of the brakes from a 300zx. The ones I got were from a 1991 300ZX turbo. They are 30mm aluminum 4 piston brakes. I also ordered an adaptor bracket and stainless steel lines from Matt Blehm, who is a member here on the org. .\

I expect the calipers to be here next Mon or Tues andthe brackets by the next 10 days or so. I plan on painting the calipers red and then installing them. Ill keep everyone posted as to the progress

Im still waiting for the calipers to arrive. I figure the adaptors will take a bit more time which gives me time to rebuild calipers and paint them. Any ideas on paint scheme? Right now my stock calipers are red with bronze letters

I got my calipers today, FINALLY!!!! They were dirty, so I cleaned em up. They are very light, probably about 5 lbs per caliper lighter. I decided Im going to powdercoat them and rebuild the cylinders. Meanwhile, Im waiting for my adaptor kit and stainless steel ines. I'll keep u guys posted about my progress.

While waiting for Matt's relocation brackets I decided to do some detail work to the calipers. There are some letters and numbers cast into the calipers that are really ugly. The "SUMITOMO" letters right near the "NISSAN" raised letters had to go. Also, there are some numbers cast in the end of the front of the calipers. I took my handy file to them and, being aluminum, they were no match for my file. I then coated them with primer. Red paint to come shortly. Here are before and after pics:

Can't wait to see the final product. Whats the total for parts u would need to do this conversion? I might throw my brakes on the A33 and upgrade to something bigger.

Glude: Its simple. Just need 30mm 300zx calipers which I scored off ebay for $80. Thats a bit low. Normally they are about $200, still pretty cheap. I got the aluminum ones for lighter weight but iron ones will work too. Matt Blehm has adaptors and SS lines that he is shipping to me for $210. Ill probably get Hawk pads - $50. Thats it!! BBK for under $500!!

Well there's a business opportunity if I ever heard of one...

Gauge some interest from people (and maybe get some deposits ), grab a bunch off ebay, clean them up and offer them painted in whatever color scheme people want for $600. I know you'd probably get at least a few people here jumping on that right away and make a few hundred bucks.

And forgive the ignorant question, but I'm assuming that you're going with even bigger rotors in the front?

Vig: Stock rotors for now. More braking pads and pistons = more braking power.

Here is a pic of painted caliper:

u might think this sounds ricy but what i would do is lay the glue out on the letters and gold leaf it or silver leaf it and put a layer of clear over it
