Speed Limited

It "seems" that the 6 Gen Auto SE starts to limit output at 110 - 120 MPH. Has anyone else seen this?

I have an Injen CAI.

It felt like a soft speed limter unlike the knee jerk of the 4th Gen, which forced me to get a ECU mod then whooahh !!

I remember somebody saying something about the computer messing with the intake manifold at WOT -- or maybe I just made that up, or maybe it was for another car, I don't know...

Regardless, I can tell you that at least my car pulls hard past those speeds. Real hard.

Have you tried it without the CAI? "Breathing through a straw" comes to mind at high RPM.

I seem to remember being on the "track" and hitting 120 mph (not kmh)

I have a 2006 SL and have had it up to 139mph. It was on a slight decline on the highway, interstate 70 towards Baltimore to be exact. I am surprised at how fast our cars get up speed. I will admit that after 110 the acceleration is noticeablely diminished however I made it to 139mph so It's not that bad.

Yeah, it seemed to slow it's rate of accl quickly. I was at ~4000RPM in 4th (just after 3rd redlined), then it just started to climb slower, I have had it higher just don't like doing triple digits for long periods of time. I like to get a good gap between me and ... then just settle back down to 90 - 100

It's funny because my old 4th gen with ECU would whipp into the 120 - 150 easy. I also got a ticket for 120+ in that car which I soon got rid of.

Don't get carried away with this thread, writing about speeding or racing on local roads is frown upon.

Any car is going to have its accelleration decline when you are nearing its top speed...its just how it is. My taurus took an ETERNITY to get from 100-110, then it hit the limiter. The difference between that and the max is night and day...but hey it was a 145hp 4 sp. in a car that weighed about the same.
