Got my HID's installed Today. 9006 Kit with 6000k. I love it. The Halogen projectors arent that bad at all.

I also put in 9 LED bulbs in the reverse lights.

damn can you show me a link to the 9 LED reverse lights? those looks real nice, i may be interested in buying some...i do have 5% tint and its sometimes hard to see while reversing

They are more dim than the regular bulbs, don't get them for visibility. With mine in, I barely have ANY useable light ....but they look sweet.

I never use my reverse lights to see anything, even the stock weren't that bright. I do use the reverse cam though...
I used the 5 LED directional LED's also from autolumintaion...

 

where did you get your hid kit from and how was the install?

 

is a simple install for both headlights and fogs, real simple...

Your beam pattern looks crappy...sorry but too much glare is what I see...you'll be blinding people...look at the light that escapes above your HID cutoff line...

 

I got it from hids2000 on www.nycmaximas.org. He charge $200 for the entire kit and free installation. Great guy. The installation was a bit difficult since you have to take the whole bumper off and have to find a good place on mounting the ballast. He has any rating you need.

Yes, I still do have it even though the bulb is low beam only. When you pull back to get the high beam, the projector moves the shield which blocks the light and gives off the high beam.

yeah, Ive noticed that also. But its not bad as I thought it would have been since the projector's are meant for halogen lighting.

think about those 9000k dude, the lighting sucks the higher you go... don't judge the HID by the cool colors they give out..

Looks good. That cutoff line doesn't look that bad. Some say the HID and halogen projectors are the same except for the bulb socket? I'm trying to debate installing a 9006 kit into the stock housings or getting OEM HID housings.

Oh you are right about the LED's not giving off that much light. I have the same 9-LED lights in my reverse lights on my Mustang. Looks cool but can't see anything really.

 

if you got xenons with your maxima whats the best thing to do to upgrade the lighting, install new bulbs or buy a new housing and etc...?

 

I see no logic in upgrading Xenons...

Not really much you can do to upgrade HID's...cept maybe install the 50w versions they use as landing lights on commercial aircraft.

Nothing really. They are as bright as you can make them.

You can change the light color if you wanted. They are already the brightest in terms of light output at 4300K but if you wanted to give them a blueish tint you could install some 6000K or 8000K bulbs off ebay. WOn't actually make them brighter though.

 

HID bulbs in a halogen projector, that's a no-no.

 

Technically they still work... just throws your beam pattern off.

 

Upgrade the H3 fogs to look as good as the HID...

I put Luminics pure blue in the fogs last week and they look very very close to HID (not in terms of brightness of course, but the look). I hated how the OEM fogs looked and how they diminished the blueness of the HIDs when you turned them on at night, atleast from a drivers perspective...I know oncoming traffic still saw all HID because it is so much brighter.

I had PIAA super plasma for $70, and those were so colorful they actually made the HID look bad, but luminics are $30 a pair and are the closest HID match Ive seen.

 

Supposedly the Maxima's HID projector isn't that great at all to begin with...at least compared to other projectors. Plus Nissan aims the headlight too high from the factory for some strange reason. It needs to come down a tad.

 

I dont see any harm in it.

What IS a no-no is putting HID D2R in an OEM halogen housing. That results in an explosion of beams shining in every direction and blinding everyone on the road.

From the Pic,it looks pretty good IMO.

 

Says whoo!!!!?? I have HIDs in my Fogs instead of H3 haloges and the beam is perfect and no one get blinded xcept the poor cacaroach on the ground.

Can't find a specific thread where it was mentioned. I don't know how valid their info is, but a few times i have read that the maxima projectors don't have have as sharp a cut off line as other projectors. Supposedly the Infinity FX has the best in terms of razor sharp cutoff. Some of those guys know more about HID's and projectors than most of us would care to ever even notice

 

Well if I have to believe what another forum states as truth, I would also have to believe everything on this forum as well and that ain't happening.

But I respect your opinion even though I still disagree with your original statement...
