Auto Gear Shift ****

I have been having problems with my gear shift ****.
It has, for a long time, been loose. I kept adjusting it, and
finally, it will no longer adjust. It pulls right off.

I was wondering if anyone else had this problem, and what they
did to correct it. I know I could go to the stealership, and purchase
a replacement, but was wondering if there were any after market options.

Any help, would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

MC

You probaly accidentally broke/bent the clip that is in there, I managed to do the same and mine is jsut a little loose, but I still have to twist it to take it off since I didn't break it, and I would assume you could get a new one for about $50 at the stealership, or just go there and find an opened Max........... lol JK

I replaced mine w/ the one I picked up at local kragen. since there's no overdrive button or a release button, you can pick up pretty much any shift **** that fits your style at your local auto parts store.

The dealer broke mine when I took it in for some body repair work. It would actually come off in my hand while switching from "P" to "D", etc.

I took it back and one of the techs fixed it... it's been working ever since (it's been over a year I think now).

Do a search, I have posted the quick fix a couple of times here before. The groove that the ohm clip sits in is too high on the shifter stalk. PM me if you can't find it.

happened to me too. Took it to the stealership for routine maintenance, and they fixed it for free.

Since we don't have the button to press to get it out of park, I would say most will fit. Most of them come with plastic sleeves to fit the shaft.
