Auto Gear Shift Knob

Auto Gear Shift ****
I have been having problems with my gear shift ****.
It has, for a long time, been loose. I kept adjusting it, and
finally, it will no longer adjust. It pulls right off.
I was wondering if anyone else had this problem, and what they
did to correct it. I know I could go to the stealership, and purchase
a replacement, but was wondering if there were any after market options.
Any help, would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
MC

You probaly accidentally broke/bent the clip that is in there, I managed to do the same and mine is jsut a little loose, but I still have to twist it to take it off since I didn't break it, and I would assume you could get a new one for about $50 at the stealership, or just go there and find an opened Max...........

The dealer broke mine when I took it in for some body repair work. It would actually come off in my hand while switching from "P" to "D", etc.
I took it back and one of the techs fixed it... it's been working ever since (it's been over a year I think now).
