ECu and Underdrive , and Exhuast Questions

Well Most of you 6th genners might be able to answer my question .. I Still own my 2001 but I bought a 06 and I was wondering about the mods..

#1 .. Would the Ecu from the 350z work with the Maxima ? Just seeing if that would work instead of going Technosquare.

#2 .. Well I install a Pulley in my 2001 Maxima and I notice my AC wasnt blowing as cold .. I do live in Florida so its always hot here. Does anyone with a underdrive pulley have any problems? any feedbacks please...

#3 .. I recently drove the Altima SE-R and Im wondering if the exhuast system will fit on the Maxima? I want that 350z/G35/Se-R sound but I dont want to upgrade an exhuast system. Has anyone encounter this or a soultion where are VQ's can duplicate the sound?

Thank you

yes the Z and G ecu will work on the max with some issues, or you can just mod the maxima one at technosquare like I did.

What we found so far...

For 6MT, cruise control doesn't work.

For 5AT, different transmissions, serious lag; and cruise control doesn't work.

Plus our transverse-mount engine on the more advanced timing trapped the heat in the engine compartment. When we had Max's flashed ECU that advanced, it went in to protection mode. We had to dial it back some. Max's ECU has more limitations.

Besides, you have to get the ECU rekeyed. It might end up costing the about same.

im buying a shorter resonator monday to give my car that g35 sound that everyone is talking about. my friend has it on his acura and it growls just like the g35 but i guess its a lil more refined and it didnt progress as u get higher into the rpms. after 3-4 revs, its lost in the sound of the engine bay. but still worth the 140 total of install and part. we'lll see how mine turns out.

I have the URP and I here a little noise when I turn on the AC but it still blows cold air. I would not install the pulley on the n6th gen. yet if you are under warranty.

Go for a Greddy Sp-2 or a cattman.

Definately go with the sp-2 beautiful G35 sound and i have heard that the cattman is way too loud but its a matter of opinion for a sound level that you prefer my sp-2 is quiet like a G/Z and no highway drone going up 95 from miami to west palm

Are the issues you listed here for the 350 Z ecu swap?
Are there any remaining issues with the Technosquare flash?
I am still curious to know who has the most mods with the TS flash, I know Tek has a CAI with his TS flash and the dyno to prove the numbers but has anyone else taken the $500 plunge?

Yes, these are issues with the Z/G swap. I have had no problems with Technosquare flashed, and I'm not aware any issues from anyone else.

It wont really give u that sound. I know because ive done it and it was a waste of money. Get the Greddy Sp2 if you want it to sound similar to the 350z, id say its somewhat close.

Have you found out the issue with the Noise ?
is that related to the pulley itself ?

I installed one on my 2001, no noise but I notice my A/C as not as cold.. It could be a freon issue but I just wanted to get some feedbacks..
Does the your RPM rev much quicker now ?

does the Greddy Sp2 comes with the Y pipe ? cause I saw a guy selling the whole thing in the F/S ... damn kinda of pricey just to get that sound.. *Sigh* I guess the SE-R Altima Exhuast wont bolt up then.

I saw a guy on another forum with an Altima SE-R that had a TRUE dual exhaust. I wonder what that sounded like.

what you mean True Dual ? you mean seperate H pipes into 2 differnt mufflers?

also is it just the muffler on the Z that makes that sound or the full exhuast?

Nice! Gonna start saving up for the flash. I'm at 31k miles now, by the time I have the money I will be at 36k so the warranty won't be an issue. Thanks.

True dual exhaust means separate pipes from the manifold to the muffler. If I find the thread, Ill post it.

is this what makes the differnce in sound ? What does the Altima SE-R OEM look like ? dual as well ?

I just want that G Z and SE-R growl without the loudness

I went with a Greddy Sp on my 2001 Maxima.. at 1st it was decent , then overtime i got sick of it.. I told myself I wasnt going to add an exhuast on the Maxima .. Previous I own a 94 Nissan Altima on Boost .. with a Greddy Cat-back... Does anyone have a sound clip of the Greddy Sp on the 2005-07 Maximas? or any custom exhuast that would make it duplicate the sound of the factory Zs Gs or Se-Rs?

or am i going have to dish out like 700 bucks for the greddy to get that sound??

I have 2006 with pulley, NO A/C problems; and its H-O-T in Lake Charles, La.!! As for sound w/ headers and y-pipe, I have stock resonator/cat-back; and quiet (Nearly "stock") 'till 4K.

So I emailed TS about the L spec flash and the asked for my ecu part number and ID code. Is this stuff located on the ECU or something? Maybe someone with it can chime in.

yea, its right on the ecu, if you take the glove box out you can see it, no need to take out the whole ecu to read it..

I have a modified pipe from the cat to the stock mufflers having removed the resonator and I get a nice sounding growl. It's not to noisy. I have also heard a Magnaflo system and it was very loud. Somewhere in the middle would be best! I heard the Greddy too and it's only a little louder than mine as it comes with a resonator.

I also have the UR UDP and an AEM CAI.

Just installed: Cross-drilled rotors with Cadmium plating and Hawk HPS Brake Pads on Silver painted calipers. Stops on a dime now! Next: I will have to re-do the rears too.

As far as the computer is concerned, I am going with the new APEXI Neo!

Check it out! (Google)

Please guys post some Sound Clip.. Im impatient with the exhuast so I dont want to choose the wrong decsion.

Also whats the turnaround time for the TS ecu ?

I might acutally get the Pulley and ECU before I mess with the exhuast.

I found out that the 2000-2006 all have the same Oil and Air filter ..
So Took off my Drop in K & N filter from my 01 to the 06..
I have a brand new B M Tranny cooler I never install for the 01 that I might install on my newer one.

So far Cherrmax Exhuast setup with header is pretty loud for me.
I hope someone can come up with some clips of what they did..
either no resonator.. or resonator with a Y pipe ?
Or just Greddy SP exhuast alone..

I gotta find that Distinct sound somehow

Remember, if an exhaust is too loud, you can always insulate the trunk with sound-proof material. I used carpet padding and its fairly easy to install, is cheap, and it works well. Search for my thread on this topic

It seems you guys picked up good info on the interchangeability of ECU's. If I buy a used MAX ECU, is it a must to match the options (no TC, 5Auto)? Couldn’t I get Technosquare to load the program that matches my options?
