HID question

What is the K rating of our factory HID headlights?

What I have in mind is changing my fog lights to HID and the same K rating of the headlights so they match obviously. What do you guys recommend, to keep the factory HID headlights and add the same HID K rating to the fog lights, or change the HID headlights to something like 6000K or maybe 8000K and then match the fog lights to which ever one I go with?

I know the higher the K rating the less visibality one will have. But I think the 6000K is not a big difference to the factory one in visibility.

Do any of you have the 6000K or 8000K in you 6th gen Maxima? If so can you post some pictures of how the lights look more or less and if you have good visability compared to the factory HIDs.

Thank You

I have stock HID's and 6k HID fog's, and it has way better visability over the stock set up.

I would get both 6k and that's it, nice blue tint with a white output, very clear in the dark, you see everything..

Hey guys,

In in the same boat as well. What are the best HID fog lights to go out with. I beleive when i talked to a nissan guy he said the HIDs are 4000 or something, it would be good to get the same for the fog lights as well.

There are a lot of places that sell these, but in this forum what is the best one someone would recommend? Especially when its raining when you have your fogs on it really helps.

does anybody have any suggestions? is it a good idea to call nissan and ask them or? go to a local shop maybe and get them to put something in, its the rating of K that is most important, plus its gotta last for a while.

I'm also torn over getting 4300k or 6000k. I'm concerned the 6000k will be too blue and actually have less usable light.

no, 6000k is bright white, the bulb just gives off a blue glow..

I have those in my fogs and they make a world of difference..

So you think they'd be ok in the main beams too?

Hmmmm looks like there is not too much difference.

It looks like he modified the DRL location to have a bulb too.

he didn't, thats probably the flash or a reflection or so.

looking at them there might not be a visual difference, but look close, my fog is a blue color, same as his. my headlight is white, his is a slight purplelish color.

the lights are crazy at night, this is where you can tell the real difference for real. I would get them again if I had to.

Tek is right the lights are great at night, the lights are 6000k Philip Ultinons they have a slight purplish color more towards a pink. I paid 300 for he bulbs, they are not cheap.

This is confusing, on many websites they say the higher the K rating the less light you have. Some of you guys are saying that 6000k gives a bright white with blue tint, so is it brighter than the stock HID'S?

Or do you just stay with your stock HID's and for your Fogs you go the 6000K way?

Which one is it? Does the light look weird, if you combine a 6000K fog with a stock HID?

looking to hear from anyone, who might be able to clear out the issue.

Peace.

I actually think that is the way I'm heading. Doing a 4300k headlight with a 6000k fog. I think it looks good. Just like what Tek-niq has on his car. Stock HID headlights with an aftermarket 6000k fog.

Worst case scenario, you change one of the bulbs to match the colour of the set you like best.
