Read up on any car forum and your gonna find owners complaining.

My 06 has been problem free, the stock brakes seem weak for a car this size especially with repeated stops in hot weather, I've never experienced warped rotors but the inside front pads on my car eat into the rotors, car stopped fine but the rotors looked like a corn cob, cheap metal I guess.

Test drive the car and make you decision, no car is perfect when you read about them online.

He has been the only owner. He is asking $15000 OBO. KBB with the miles is $14290. I am not sure what a fair price would be. I don't want to pay more then BB. It's funny, from reading the post lots of people seem like they have had problems, but 1/2 love their car and the ohter 1/2 will never buy another one. If I buy it I would like to feel like I've gotten a good deal.

If I sold my car it would be the high end of KBB, private party sales are suppose to cost slightly more cause the original owner has all the info, or you can find a car on a dealers lot and keep your fingers crossed.

All cars have problems, long as the car was not totaled and put back together in another state and resold it's good

So I went and checked it out. Car was clean and looked good. When I test drove it, though, I could feel the bumps on the road through the wheel, sttering seemed maybe a little loose. Also, when I braked there was a bit of shudder at lower speeds. Any ideas on what would need to be done to take care of this? Is it rotors? What about tightening the steering? Right after that I went and test drove an '04 with 35K at the dealership. Steering was tight and no shudder.

Made an offer, so we'll see what happens. Hopefully it'll just be rotors and brakes. I may have to go to the dealer if I have to put new struts on. Anybody know how much that'll run me?

i wouldn't buy a used one without the proper extended warranty-- especially when i had to dish out 3 grand 2 months later for a transmission.. ugh-- but good luck! i guess i'm negative because it was the biggest nightmare having the tranny go a month after i thought this car was the best thing ever...

I have an 04 SE bought it used with 63k. I've only owned domestic before this car and I can still remember when I first test drove it.. Threw/planted my @ss back into the headrest.. Never looked back!!! Bought it that same day.. 17k later not a single problem. Run's as good as it did that first day!

Have a 2005 SE, with 89k miles. Only problems I had was the exhaust bracket had to be replaced twice and the Grille is peeling. Replaced rotors at 69k miles, The only sensor that went bad was the one that by the gas tank that monitors the air flow, forgot whats it called. I'm due for a new set of tires (Nexen 7000) and the 90k mile service and do the tuneup at the same time. Also gotto replace thefront struts during the summer. When the car is cold, and I'm turning, it makes a creaking noise. Other than that, no problems. If you maintain this car well, you can get easily 250k miles out of them. My co-worker has a Nissan Xterra, lives in Rockland County Exit 15 on Thruway, commutes to Brookyln everyday, he has 240k miles, car runs fine. Good Luck with what you decide

My first car was an 88 Max - The only problem I had with it was at around 270,000 miles the tranny died

My second car was a truck, F 150 (had major problems all the time) never again

Third - 2001 Maxima GLE I loved this car! - Right wheel bearing went out at 175,000 miles

Current - 2005 Max 3.5 SL - It has 29k on it. Chernmax vids on youtube got me modifying it. Everytime I do something to it, I fall in love just a little more.

Even my lil bro got tired of his toyota corolla and now has a 2005 Max 3.5 SE.

It's a family affair now!!

Embrace the max.
