Rim weight for 6th GEN

I was wondering what would be considered a light rim. (in lbs)

talking about 18 x 7.5

Anyone?

A light rim in 18" would be about 15-20 lbs or so.

Go to this old thread for a discussion about the weight of both tire and rim for nearly new 04 SE tires and rims. My posts list the weight that I got with my new RSAs in 2003.

Can't be much help with your original question.

I had these around the house for months before we installed in on my brother's max but no scale to weigh it. I know one thing for sure; if you are lugging around the stock 18 with RSA on it and then you pick the nismo 19with michellin Pilot sport a/s its like picking up an empty box when you think its full of crap.

I know man. imagine, my 22's weigh in at 62lbs with tires, when I go back to my oem 18's, WOW!! what a difference in power.

once I do more engine mods I would give a lighter rim a shot, cause it really releases power.

Going to a smaller size has more impact than the actually weight does.

Going to a smaller size tire is like reducing the gearing in your trannie. It gives you a better off-the-line effect due to this reduced size.

A reduction in tire weight (un-sprung weight) should improve the cornering and the ride on rough roads.

My car has the 19" Nismos, Dues has 18".

The 19" Nismos with a good set of tires and your car pulls like a maniac.

I have the widest tire for a 8.5" width rim, with a 255 tire size set....

so grip is not an issue for me.

The lightest set of rims I have seen to date are the 18" x 8.5" Nismo Rims for the Altima. 16.5 lbs per wheel.

OK so the stock rim/tire package weighs in at around 55 lbs. Anybody knows how much the rim itself weighs.

Well I am trying to go for style/weight with my choice rather than just to get light rims. The 19" nismos are great rims, not for me thou, not now at least as this would mean changing both rims and tires ($1600 for rims and about $900 for tires. I can honestly admin that I don't have $2500 to spend on wheels at this point

My rims are A-tech 18x8 on 245 40 18. These weigh 19lbs. My tires are smaller around too since they are 40 series, not the original 45 series. The difference in acceleration is very noticable, particularly from a standing start (the so called "holeshot" in drag racing).

Getting lighter rims reduces unsprung weight as well which improves handling. Also, lighter rims help improve steering lightness to an extent.

When I looked for rims, I wanted bronze rims, that looked good and were light in weight. I got all three in my rims. Cost of rims and tires was about 1600 install, balanced and mounted. Tires and rims may be the most cost effective mod you can do.
