I've had the Greddy radiator cap for almost 3 years now on my ride and mine still looks and works flawlessly...

I suggest not using the water wetter, as i used it in my max and it thins the anti-freeze which can inturn cause leaks, I could never find a leak but i could always smell burning antifreeze whenever i would drive.

So yoo're telling me that the NISMO radiator cap is actually worth the $50 price tag? Since it cools the radiator a little bit more?

Raidator cap has nothing to do with the cooling. Its just a cap. Changing the thermostat makes the difference.

A radiator cap with 18.5 lbs of pressure:
A) Will "Increase the performance of your radiator" by raising the boiling point.
Std cap 14 lbs.,GReddy 18.5 lbs => +4.5 lbs X 3 => 13.5 F. higher boiling point. It cheaper to run a 70/30 antifreeze mixture but that actually lowers the cooling performance of the radiator. Catch 22.

B) Will increase the possibility of a leak around a clip, pop a hose, or worst, crack the aluminum radiator. The system is tested for 11-14 lbs. Its only as good as its weakest part.

I installed a 170 F. 350Z thermostat (fitting required), which lowers the temp by ~10 degrees. I run 30/70 antifreeze & Water Wetter. You could also get a Nismo 155 F. for $120.

I tried tweaking my thermostat so it could open sooner. No luck. Its rivetted into the housing. Shortening the spring made it unstable.

My 280 Z won best of show at a Z car show and one of the prizes I got was a Nismo 350Z Rad. cap. Put it on my Max it fits and works just fine.

10 degrees difference is like spending $2.68 instead of $2.69 for a gallon of gas. It ain't doing you sheet.

I'd rather be at 190*F vs 200*F

Between $2.68 and $2.69 per gallon I'd rather pay $2.68 per gallon! Would it make a difference?

ABSOLUTELY NOT!

^^^^ and thats per week [for me at least, fill up once a week]. the nismo thermostat i thought was only for the g/z. if installed on the max, the hose has to be modified.

with modifying stock thermostats, a lot of the honda ppl drilled a 3/16" hole at3,9,12 o clock which let the coolant flow [obviously]

actually, isnt the stock 0.9kg/cm which would be 12.6lb instead of 14lb? the nismo one is 18.2lb [1.3kg/cm] so:

18.2-12.6 = 5.6*3 = 16.8 deg F higher. [i got curious]

+/- 35$ isnt too bad. [courtesy is less than a mile from my work]

You nailed it!.

If that was my goal I would take out my CAI and stop floring the car. That would proly save me more than $5.00 per fill up.

I bought my max to enjoy it. >>

10 -12* F could meanthe difference between timing retard and advance. You missed the point..

Correct 12.6 lbs. Was looking at pressure range. For me, running a cooler engine is as important as having good/clean engine oil. That's just me.

Re timing: That's what I was hoping for. With the cooler engine the ECU would run a tad richer and more advance.
