led mirrors

Hey everyone... I'm a 4th gen person, but I didn't get any response from that forum.
I found these on ebay and he's got them for A32,33,and 34.
I was wondering if anyone on here can comment on the fitment.
thanks

I have an '04 SE and it's catagorized as an A34. I figured that out by reading the Nissan Bulletins. Anyways, I think those are pretty cool, would def. be interested in em, but not for the price they're asking at this time.

Nope, nobody here has them for sure. We've all been waiting & waiting for someone, anyone to make these for our cars. Good find!

well, yeah, the new maxima's will have these in a few years, but by then, mine will be 14+ years old. I'm interested in some cosmetic upgrades to a fourth gen. I was hoping that someone on here had purchased these from him and could comment on the fit.

I've seen the "m3 style jdm" type from fleabay on a 4th gen and they didn't fit at all. Huge gaps and the curve didn't follow the support shell. I definately don't want that on my car. I would like them to look like it came stock.
Can anyone comment.

Ps, he's also got just a cover and it looks like it sells for under 50 bux. That will work for you 6th gen people, but not for the 4th gen.

Funny I stumbled across this thread. I went to Nissan yesterday to see if a swap can be done.

They aren't terribly certain that it can.

The mirrors on the Altima might require some fidgeting for wiring, but the fit is the issue instead. The tech was saying that the angle on the A pillar is off enough that probably wouldn't fit. Plus, without having a spare one to compare to my max's mirror....there's not a whole lot to work with!

Emailed him to see if he's sold them to anyone with a 2004+ Maxima yet so we can verify fit.

I e-mailed to dude on EBAY and here's his response:

"actually we are not sure about US model. 80% will not fit. we have not sell any to US. so we are not sure. sorry"

So I asked him to send more detailed pic to me or send me a set for test fitting (yeah right!)

maybe he'll send you a set at a discount.
With the way that cars are "globaly" produced, I wouldn't be suprized if the doors and the mirror supports are all the same shape.

I could see stylist changes on the mirror body and headlights and such, but changing how it's supported in the door would require monster and expensive changes.

Going to have to wait and see I guess... maybe he'll send me a set for the A32 if he sends you a set for the A34?
althought I'm not gonna hold my breath.

I would be interested in those pictures also if you get them jsmithsole

He emailed back again and said the A34 is the Japanese Maxima. Japan doesn't even have a Maxima rightnow, it's the Teana. Anyways, I told him there would be interest for these for the 6th gen for sure, we'll see what he says.

And he emailed back once again:

Here's what he said:
"Hello:
Are you able to arrange a set of the mirror for us?
We will consider it.
But it will cost about 22000USD just for the mold to manufacture the mirror.
Also, does the car come with the electronic folding function?
Because we still need to consider what kind of switch we need to use.
Is it compatible with A 33’ s switch?"

Ok so we need to get a set from somewhere
Do ALL 6th gens have auto folding mirrors?
As for the switch, any idea guys???

This could be good!!

not a problem... I hope that the manufacturer is willing to commit to building some to fit your guys cars...
better yet, would it be great if they fit allready?
I have asked the ebay guy if he could send me a picture of how the mirror is attached to the A32 version so I guess we'll wait and see.

what about just making a cover for those of you who don't have the power folding mirror option. he sells them so he could just mold out the mirror and make the cover for them. It would be cheaper and then those that have the power folding option wouldn't worry about loosing it.

My guess is that the side that attaches to the car is going to be made of all plastic. It's cheaper to make, but if you over tighten it.... not a good idea. hmmmmmm....
also, he says that he dosn't offer the mirror with heated glass. For me, I'm north of the border and I need that option.

If someone could make a LED blinker unit that can be attached to the exisiting shell, from the outside edge of the mirror and then wrap around toward the front. Maybe we would have to cut out a section of the shell to get it to fit flush and then run the wiring. It would fit both the power and non power fold mirrors. A lot cheaper than recreating the whole wheel... er mirror.

BTW. Congrats to me!!! Post number 500.

I ended up figuring out who made them for the Mercedes. I attemted to make some for my '01 GTP, but I sold the car and the blinker assemblies as well. I've got it written down somewhere. The guy I spoke to (whether or not he's even there still) was pretty cool.

jsmithsole, did you ever get pictures of the mounting plate of these mirrors?

I rec'd an e-mail back from the vendor stating that these will 100% fit A33 and A34.
Great, but I drive an A32.
no reply yet and no pictures of the backing plate. All he said was that it was exactly the same as factory.
Also, no heated glass option. that's really too bad, becuase I love my heated glass.
Anyway let me know what happened with these.

take care

I never heard back from them or got any pics...

2004 Mirror removal/install Question

Does anyone have instructions on how to remove/install the side mirrors on the 2004+ Max? (Maybe pictures).

I got a small incident this morning and I popped the passenger side mirror, backing out of the car shelter.

The mirror was hanging by the wires but after visual inspection, it doesn't seem to have any broken pieces. The car is OK too. Since I was in a hurry to bring my daughter to school I pushed it back to its place and it seems to be holding relatively solid. I can however see that the fit is not perfect and I guess some screws must be holding it in place on the door.

I am not too trilled to go to the dealer with this problem so if I can do it myself...

(P.S) I am sorry to pollute this post with an unrelated issue, I am not authorized to start new thread.

Thank you,

Stephen...

yeah thats why i deleted the post. figured someone could get shells for much cheaper (if they are available). do the 6th gen mirrors fold in electronically? I guess I could see if they sell just the shells since Nissan lists that pic as an accessory and not an option.

this is what I said I may be able to get from Japan for those who missed the deleted post.

Just got an answer. Shells are about $150 primed and way too much painted. (about $250). plus shipping of course, but I am sure if you guys get a group deal going the shipping will be very minimal. Shipping for a pair of actual mirrors was about $50 for me. Just to be sure, the 6th gen body style is now called a TEANA J31 right? (and not an A34).

"The last model of Nissan Cefiro is A33. Next model is TEANA, and it is on sale as "Cefiro" in Singapore and Hong Kong though it's not a problem.", was what I was told.

If memory serves correct, the Maxima in Japan is called the Teana.

How often do you use your folding mirrors? I think I've used mine like once.

That was my point, our 6th gen (Maxima) only exists on North America...

I fold them in quite often actually...

I fold mine pretty regularly. I saw a Mecedes S500 (?) that had the mirrors fold automatically when he turned on his alarm. It was very cool, wish we could find a way to wire ours like that.

The folding mirrors was of no use when it was below 0 and freezing. They would not move. During warmer temps though, I'll fold them turn the car off and set the switch "open" so that when I start the car they will open as I drive away.

When I was looking at cars we looked at the Altima originally and decided on the maxima due to color options available. I did like the altimas LED in the mirror....didn't know they folded.

The mirrors on most European cars fold due to the narrow roads there. My mom's ?Peuguot? do it when you turn on/off the car

They are the shells (remove the old ones and replace). They are for the J31/Teana/6th Gen max.
