i was wondering who has a remote starter on there 6gen max and how good is it... looking for one with good range, lets you know the car is on, temp. etc. best brand.

also looking for the name of the timer, where you can program specific start times to the starter.

You would get better results in the Audio and Electronics forum.
Per your specs, I recommend a Viper 791xv/Clifford RSX 3.5

How much would an option like this cost. Would it be programmed into OEM dongle or would it be a 3rd freaken' thing hanging with the keys?

Either way, it's an add-on module(s) to your current set up. It can be alarm only, remote start only, or both. They CAN be integrated into your factory kefob (to a certain extent) however factory keyfob loses range over time, so it's smartest to just let the aftermarket replace your OEM one.

I have the cliford 3.5 and it works like a champ. It is a pain to install so I would have someone do it for you if you can. Talk to Don in the audio section he will take care of you.

anyone put one in a 6 speed? i know most installers wont do it since you have to bypass the clutch safety switch.

I installed mine on my 6 speed. There's a neutral safety switch wire behind the glove box. It won't let the remote start activate if it is in gear.

Does anyone know anywhere in eastern Mass who will install a remote start into a 6SP. I have contacted six shops, and none of them will do it simply for liability reasons.

it gets really good range, i've started upto 1/2 mile away. havent really parked my car a mile away from me =)... it depends where you are though, at my college theres this one spot where cell phones dont work, pretty much a dead area and the car is about 600 ft away from me but wont start...

The range is crazy! I still haven't tested it from a mile away but, I'll try it out one of these days.

MPScan - Tell the shop that you know where the neutral safety switch wire is and that you will give it to them. That'll probably ease some of there fears...The remote start will not start in any gear or if the clutch is depressed, the remote start will shut off.

I just have to go and look to see which wire it is again.

I had the 3.5 on my 4th gen. I have an 07 now and am looking to get another remote start. Has anyone installed a remote start with the Intelligent Key? Can you integrate the alarm/remote start with the Intelligent keyfob (I don't think so but I figure I'd ask).

I have the Clifford RSX 3.5 it works great. Also keep in mind that the stock "alarm" isn't really more than a door opener. If you want some extra security go for the full deal. I paid $500 installed (3 years ago)

I understand that its not more than door opener and a fake alarm LED but I already invested in Lo-Jack which I think makes more sense. If somebody wants to steal your car they will whether you have an alarm or not. Lo-Jack will at least help you find it, not to mention the benefits if they don't.

The reson I was asking for a remote start is that this is all I want. Is there a cheap ad-on that would integrate into OEM remote and allow me to start the car remotely so that it would warm up before I get to it.

Headlights will go off after a few minutes.

Same thing happens if you have your headlights and engine on, turn off the engine with key, but don't get out of your car. Give it a minute or two and they go off.

Yes I know they go off when I use key but when I use remote start and turn it off with remote the lights stay on they don't shut off like they do if you use key!!

Yes they stay on, but the car has an auto shut
off ( when not in auto mode) after like 5 minutes or so if you did happen to leave them on. But yes I've started my car with the lights on auto and then shut it down and they stay on for the longer period of time and then go off. Weird...

Not sure why it does this, but I don't often out start my car and then turn it off anyways...

I just got the remote starter installed for $175 total price. It's integrated into the OEM keyfob, so for me to start the car I just hit "LOCK" three times. You can have it setup so you only hit it twice if you wish. The system also includes anti-frinding feature standard.

$175/installed is the cheapest I've seen around.

Where did you get the things needed for it and where did you get it installed? I would love to have this put in my OEM keyfob!

Its a shop in Brooklyn, NY and the stuff they install needs to be professionally installed according to the box/instructions. Call your audio/security shops in your area and ask how much they want for a remote starter.

aha! dzieki

I'd assume that any local audio/security shop would know of such a thing that you can install in your OEM fob, right?

After having horrible experience w/ the Code Alarm model I bought from Circuit City a few years back, I've since upgraded to the new Python 990 SST model... After the Code Alarm brain went "bad", they sent it off to the manufacturer and "lost" it! Can you believe that?!! So, knowing how horrible the product was and how they f***'d up, Circuit City replaced the Code Alarm w/ their brand new Python 990 Responder SST (SST = Spread Spectrum Technology = 1 MILE RANGE!!!).

After doing some research, if you go Directed, you can't lose... By this I mean, Viper, Python, or Clifford. When you look up the correlating top-of-the-line models (via the Directed website), they're all pretty much the same product w/ different "skin". Just as if you bought a Ford Explorer or Mercury Mountaineer... They're the same vehicle, but w/ different labels and styling... The products below are the same, w/ only differences in name and "personality"... Choose any of the three Responder SST models and you won't go wrong! Just be ready to pay for what you're getting...

VIPER 5900 = PYTHON 990 = CLIFFORD Matrix 50.5X (p/n 5301X)

For those w/ the older versions:

VIPER 791XV = PYTHON 881XP = CLIFFORD Matrix RSX 3.5 (p/n 919564)

They've even JUST released new 2-way COLOR Responder Pager/LCD/OLED remotes for more interactive communication w/ your car!!! (OLED = Organic Light Emitting Diode) Comes w/ home charging unit as well!!! I believe all three Directed name brands have this new toy available for purchase on their websites, although I didn't see anything on the Clifford website about the new color OLED technology...probably just a matter of updating their site...

YOU SHOULD CHECK OUT compustar.com they have a wide range of starters that allow u to upgrade without having to install new parts just change the antenna and remote.the base model starts at 320 installed. theres too many features to remember them all.vale mode, timer mode, start every 4 hours for 4 minutes, and many more,1500 t0 2000 foot range and then it just gets crazy from there, then you get into the two way remote with led screens the other thing is that you don't need to deposit a key wit this system.

I had the Viper 791 and it was great. The only thing that you should look out for is the replacement. Once you break your remote, then you gotta spend some $$ for a replacement.

Does anyone know what bypass module is used? 555U, 555T, or what?

I like the idea of the 561T unit that maintains the factory keyfob, and I think I could install it myself, but I need to know what bypass module to use.

The VALET comes with all these features and comes at half the price installed. The only difference is that you are limited to OEM distance if you don't want to get aftermarket remote. Not a problem for me cause I have to walk the pup before going to work. I also noticed that raising the OEM keyfob as high as you can increases the range so I can start the car from about a block or two away.

BTW there was a thread on how to increase the range of OEM keyfob with really simple mod. I can look for it if anybody is interested.
