Tire Pressuring Monitoring

Hola,
I just got an 07 SL with the Tire Pressure Monitoring System, and the light keeps flashing on it. I have taken it to the dealership twice and it still keeps lighting up. Anyone else have a problem with this? The light is off when I get in the car, but it comes back on after a while. I think they just reset the light and after I start the car a couple of times the problem shows back up...

Anyone else have this problem?

Mine has been on since July - it flashes for a minute at startup then stays on steady, which is a malfunction indication.

I've been running 60-70 hours a week at work and haven't had time to go back to the dealer with it. I know the tires are properly inflated so I haven't lost any sleep over it. I just got my recall notice for the ignition/steering interlock, so I'll probably get 'em both taken care of soon.

Lovely... it really irritates me since it's yellow and all... the first time it came on was in the middle of the night when I was on my way to Houston... I was like AAAAHHHH!!! I got the manual out and kept on going...

MAJOR BUMP.

Wow, im glad i am not the only one with this problem.

My 2008 Max's TPMS light comes on and blinks for a minute then stays steady, until some point it decides to go off. This happens at random times, for random lengths of time, usually when I've been driving for over 15 miles. Only one tire shows a problem, and it shows ** instead of a pressure, the other three show proper pressure readings.

I have had it into the dealership twice now. The first time they cleared a bunch of codes and said that should fix it. Sorry. The second time, i actually showed a photo of the condition to my SA. It didn't matter. The tech even took it for a 20 mile ride, and they couldn't duplicate the condition. My SA believed me, after all i had a photo; they just never saw it happen.

He told me i am supposed to swing by when the TPMS is malfunctioning, but the problem is that i am usually miles away, or it is at night when they are closed, or it's just not convenient.

It bothers me because it is distracting. I know that my tires are properly inflated, especially since the sensor regains proper function after a minute or two anyway.

Has anyone else had this problem, had it fixed, ignored it, junked car, etc?

I use to work for a tire wholesaler and was required to take classes on such situations. Tire Pressure Monitoring systems are designed to alert the driver when ever their is a slight variation in tire pressure ranging from 3-5 psi. As you may already know as you drive your car, the air in the tire begins to heat up causing it to expand which will indicate a increase in tire pressure. At night the road conditions are less severe and may not heat up the air in the tire as much as during the day. What I would try is, If your TPMS goes off mainly at night add/subtract a few Lbs until you notice a difference. If you live in houston as I do this happens alot, We have days where we have to use the ac during the day and the heater at night!

Hey check out my hectic week with my 2008 maxima. I seen my TPMS light flashing and on my navigation screen it wasn't registering any information about the TPMS. It just showed ***, so i took it to the dealer and one of the sensor read low battery and needed to be changed. Now 2 days later the same problem occured in another tire. So now i am off to the dealer to get another sensor replaced. Thats going to be 2 sensor replaced in a matter of 3 days. If these sensor run off battery when we get out of warranty we are going to be in trouble because its about 200 dollars a sensor with labor. Anyone else having sensor problems. Any one else with a low battery reading from the sensor.

Mine is fine during the summer but when the temps begin to drop in the fall i have to adjust the tire pressure to compensate for the lower temperatures at least every other week.

Low tire pressure warning lights on Nissans come on when tire pressure reaches 29psi and low. We always set tire pressures to 35psi with the tires COLD. If your light keeps comming on then easiest thing to do is check all your tire pressures manually with a gauge. If its anywhere near 29psi especially if its been sitting overnight then you need to add some air. Its normal for tires to go down a few psi overnight in the cold.

But yes i have seen some sensors not responding, there is a procedure for us to "wake up" the sensor as they are turned off from the factory and get turned on prior to shipping, or at least are supposed to be turned on. We have a special tool that we use to turn them on and register them along with the consult scanner. But there have been a few times where the sensor is faulty and gets replaced.

Tire pressure sensors have batteries in them that are supposed to last the car's lifetime but im very skeptical of that. They only send a reading to the BCM every few mins with the car standing still and update at a rate of once per min with the car moving over 25mph so this is supposed to prolong battery life.

Well as i posted earliar. Two of my sensor went bad with a low battery reading. So u beign skeptical is correct its confirmed those batteries dont last the life of the car and when your out of warranty 200 bucks for each tire with labor.

My TPMS light came on again two days ago because i probably have a nail stuck in one of the tires. It seems like these cheap RSA tires always attract nails.
