Just ordered NISMO Sways

I just called the dealership I bought my car from. They also did all the work on my Altima before I traded it. Anyway, they ordered the NISMO sways for the Altima and said they will fit, or allow me to return them. Should be in this week. I get all parts at cost so I figured what the heck. They also "habu" (hook a brother up) me on the labor. I will keep you posted.

Some of you may agree or disagree when it comes to NISMO parts. Yes, I do pay a little more (not much with the discounts) but the dealer will always stick with me if there is a problem. Also, for the amount I get them for, I save the hassle of needing to order from Cattman and still have the dealer get the front SE-R bar in order to have and rear completed.

I cant wait to have this mod done. I know what they did for my Altima SE, cant wait to see what it does for a Maxima SE.

As a side note, if Brian would update his website, it might drive a little more business his way. Not sure of the delay, but just my .02

how much did they cost you with tax include? Not for the install, just the bars.

It is what used to be Palmeiro Nissan between Butler and Cranberry. It was just sold and is now called Victory Nissan. They are knocking down the building and moving to a brand new dealership still under construction in Cranberry.

The cost $280 with tax OTD.

Might as well upgrade the bushings for sway bars to polyurethane.
If you know the correct sizes check with Energy Suspension.

Nice, I work in Cranberry. If/when I buy a Maxima, the dealership would come in handy.

They have a GREAT 2006 Altima SE with 15k miles. It was mine and I had every NISMO option installed, plus window tint. I look back and kick myself for trading it in. The car was a rocket, handled well, and always got looks from others. They gave me too much for trade and are having a hard time selling it.

If you are looking, I never abused it, always put in 93 octane and washed it every week.

Anyway, good luck.

Why'd you get rid of it?

I am looking for a 2006 Maxima SL w/ Elite Package + Navi, so I will have to pass on the Altima, but I appreciate the heads-up!

One suggestion, get an '07 unless you are looking used. I am mad I bought the 2006 Maxima because now the rebates are almost the same. Oh well, live and learn.

I got the Maxima on impulse. Funny, almost got divorced on impulse as well
I loved the performance of the Altima but the interior had no options. I went up to the dealership for an oil change and tire rotation and the owner and I would always bs while I waited for my car. He said " I have this Maxima that was special order. The guy backed out and left his deposit. I will give you his deposit and give you invoice (new car invoice) for your car. So, I got a brand new maxima with no miles, driver preferred package and a lower APR than I had on my Altima. Turns out I only pay about $32 a month more for a car that has every option except "elite pkg". Right down to the heated steering wheel. Which, I wonder how I ever lived without in Pitts

So far, I have put NISMO intake in. Have NISMO sways on order and getting tints done in about a month or so.

Yeah, I am planning on going used, so 2007 would be a bit out of my range.

I know this guy from West Hills Nissan (went to school right next to it: Robert Morris University) and he is keeping a lookout for me for a 2006 with relatively low miles.

I want it with everything and all the gadgets mainly because I am spoiled by them with my current car (2006 Prius, fully loaded). Where my current vehicle lacks is interior comfort and smooth/luxurious ride, which is why I want to switch over to a Maxima. Saving gas with a hybrid is definitely a plus, but was not the main reason why I went for the Prius, so that's not an issue.

I hope I can find myself a Maxima that I want soon! I would hate to settle for something other than what I want, but when going for a pre-owned vehicle, you only have so much room to be picky.

I am also looking at 2005 Infiniti G35X and 2005 VW Passat 4Motion, so I guess we'll see.

Didn't mean to hijack your thread, sorry!

I wil have an update for everyone tomorrow on the install. Good news though, $340 installed otd with tax. So, $60 or so in labor for me is worth it. I just hope everything fits

I cant wait!!!!!

If this does fit, then I think that this set would be a better alternative to a Progress RSB and a SE-R FSB...the rsb costs around $120 and the fsb I got for $92.44 shipped, totaling to about $215ish + labor = around $300 give or take $10. And considering that Nismo is NISMO, and the bars are slightly thicker than both the progress and SE-R bar, then the extra $40 some would be worth it imo...for the people that don't already have a progress or SE-R bar

Sorry guys.. Thought the wife going into labor yesterday. I tried to tell her she had to wait as it was time for the NISMO sways to be installed. Well, not really, but I wasnt wearing a cup to even joke about that. It turned out to be a false alarm so I am going back this week.

Hopefully, everything will fit and we now have a new option to the handling of the Titanic. Keep you posted!!

I thought the SE-R fsb was the Nismo fsb?

no it's not. the SE-R fsb is the bar that is on the Altima SE-R as an OEM bar and then you can also purchase the NISMO bars separately

Any idea if you can order the Nismo fsb separately? Where? Part#? As I already bought the progress rsb with the racingline endlinks.

Comes as a pair only. They are boxed together from NISMO/Nissan. You could always sell the rear to a board member who doesnt want both. Just tell them that since it is a NISMO part, it is also good for an extra 5HP

NISMO are still hollow. Rear bar is identical in size, but heavier gauge steel and weighs about twice as much as stock. Front is hollow as well, but thicker than stock and again weighs about twice as much.

STILL HOLLOW EH? Surprising! I guess the progress is the better bar after all? By how much....who knows. Why doesnt Cattman make a fsb for our maxes???

I am NOT a metal expert, but I can tell you hollow doesnt mean less strength. There is also something to be said for less weight to have on the car. If there really is a strength difference, I honestly wonder if you/we would be able to notice it in roadhandling. We arent talking Indy tuning here where moving the spoiler another 5 degrees makes the difference of 2mph on a straight away.

A perfect expample is to think about bicycles. The frames are hollow. Some Chromolly, some carbon, some alumn. A solid frame doesnt mean it is a great bicycle. Just more weight for you to have to pedal.

OK... Science lesson is over for the day. Besides, I only got a C- in that class.
