With regard to changing the manual transmission oil/fluid, this thread may help.

With regard to GM’s synchromesh fluid, be sure it is GL-4. GL-4 refers to fluid that can withstand extreme pressure. Our manual transmission specifies a GL-4 lube.
AMSOIL sells a synchromesh transmission fluid for manual transmissions that they describe as “specifically designed for manual transmissions and transaxles with synchromesh systems that require light viscosity, non-extreme pressure fortified oil.” This is a 5W-30 oil.
They also sell a manual transmission gear lube that is a 75W-90 API GL-4 Lube. According to AMSOIL, “AMSOIL Synthetic Manual Transmission and Transaxle Gear Lube (MTG) is a premium blend of the finest synthetic base oils and advanced, high-performance additives. It is formulated specifically for maximum protection in the most demanding manual transmission and transaxle applications where an extreme pressure GL-4 gear lube is specified.”
Based on AMSOIL’s description of their products, it seems that the synchromesh fluid is lightweight and not GL-4. Check your facts and make sure you don’t ruin your transmission with the wrong fluid.
