Red trim on black grill

I was debating whether or not to add these pics to my black rim/red lip thread, but I decided to start a new thread on red trim on black grill to match my cool new rims.

Since I was looking for a bit more red to add to my car, I noticed a pic of a black VW GTi with red trim around its grill. I know that the 07 GTi's have this red trim and it looks great. Here is a link to a pic:

http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y12...dtrimgrill.jpg

With that in mind, I made my own trim to fit around my Street Scene grill. I used clear tubing, a coat hanger, and some red rubber paint. I stuck the coat hanger in the tubing and shaped it to the bottom of the grill. I heated the tubing with a blow dryer just to get the tubing to stay in the shape. Then I painted the tubing with this red rubber paint I got from Pep boys. Thats it!! Here are pics: PLEASE let me know what you think. I also think a nice NismO grill with a red "O" would look nice even though I hate logos. Photoshop anyone??

Good idea;I thought about it as well. It may be too much. The VW Gti doesnt have it on its smaller upper grill. Maybe someone can photoshop red trim around the lower grill. Also, still would love to see a photoshop of nismo logo. Here is a pic of Brian's car with the Nismo logo:

That adds a nice red accent...looks good. It's subtle and not ricey at all.

Looks great deus! Since I have nothing better to do, here ya go, hahaha. Undecided about the lower grill, but the logo looks good for sure. I think the lower grill following the upper grill is growing on me.

Nismo in corner.

Nismo in center

Red trim following upper grill.

Red trim around entire lower grill.

Trim on second grill I could go either way but leaning towards "no".

Nismo sticker in the lower right hand. FTW! Yes.

It really makes the car stand-out from the crowd just alittle-bit more. As far as putting that same trim on the lower grille (IMO) I say no. For what-ever reason/reasons, by doing the lower grille, it seems to take away from the original mod. Again, IMO. By all means: Keep the upper trim, add the logo, and 4-get about trimming the lower. Great bold move/trend set. Watch all those that follow/copy-cat. Peace!

Leave the upper grill how it is-just the red trim that you have-and the lower grill, just do the same way you did the top, don't surround the whole thing, and the NISMO emblem-it's a toss-up between center or bottom right, both look good!

I also think I should paint the "nismo" logo black, except for the red "o". Any thoughts?

I don't have chop on my latop now, but if you do bottom grille like this pic, and just do the sides on the top; it will make your grilles looks like one larger grille with the bumper going accross it like the GTI.

I like the setup with the lower grille modded as well. I looked at it without, and just looks like it needs some more red. I know you might not like this suggestion Dues, but now I would take off the vynil on the taillights. The red on them would match the new look of your MAX....

What do you think guys???

without the red trim, your car just looks like this:

So if you don't put the red stripe on both grilles, you might as well take a pic with the car just like this:

Sorry Dues, it's just impossible to hold back on that one....

I am so pleased with the Max that I really am not considering a new car for me. I do have my son's car to handle, however. I co-signed for an 03 Hyundai Tiburon, bright red, and he is modding it now as we speak. It came with an intake, painted interior, tinted windows, mufflers and a short shifter. We debadged it first. He just got an Ark exhaust, a shorty antenna, and an interior piece. Next on the list is Progress springs and rear sway bar. He may also put on my old bronze rims. I am looking into an OEM roof spoiler that is sold in Austria for his car as well. Here is a pic:

both you and your son have some nice cars there. Updates of progress on both are in order. cops might give him a little guff on that tint, but it really depends what city you are in and if the cops are a-holes
