K&N...any benefits???

I'm thinking about making the small investment and purchasing a K&N air filter. Does anyone own one of these and if so, has there been any noticeable changes? I know they basically have a lifetime warranty so it would eventually pay for itself anyway.

I noticed my service engine light went on and the engine began idling too fast and when i threw it in reverse it caused a THUD! I got scared and took it out immediately, end of story

What about the filter would cause the ses light to come on as well as high idling? Increased air flow??

Better gas milege. I think it performs a little better at highway speeds. The stock air filter I think was smoother.

If your going for economy and power, the best bang for the buck your going to get is simply the cold air intake.

I have the K&N drop in; only advantage i think it has is the ability to be reused. otherwise not much difference from the factory air filter.

There is some power gain, but little can be felt through butt dyno.

huh? I don't think this is true. I have a K&N drop in and the only benefit is that I don't ever have to buy another air filter.

cai or cold air intake run from the throttle body down to the fender well..its better to get cold air than hot air... the stock air box brings in hot air from in front of the radiator...where the cold air breaths only the air from teh bottom of the bumper... also a cai is just a better set up for your car to breathe... instaed of having the air travel through the stock air box up and down around and behind etc... the air just goes in a straight pipe to the intake manifold...

you car runs on 3 things...

air ...

fuel...

and

spark...

The colder the air the better..... A GREAT INVESTMENT!!!!!

P.s. I have a K&n filter that i dont use.. i used it for like 3k miles then got a cai ... if anyone wants to buy it... its theres!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

They range from about 200-300 bucks, Nismo to Fujita. More people like the Fujita. But yet K&N is like 50 bucks so if your going to touch the air system. Why not do it so that later on you don't change your mind and go for a CAI, So my advice is when you touch something make it the best so you don't have to go back to changing it.

when I put the k&n in mine I noticed, the above said, noiser intake sound, but it did seem to perform slighty better. When I traded in the Max, I put the stock one back in, did not drive far, but it seemed a little different

I bought the K&N and 2 weeks later I switched to Fujita. Gave my filter away to my bro.

My recommendation. Dude save your money and just go for CAI (Fujita).

Look at the Nismo Intake too! I dont know why people lile Fujita but I think Nismo completes the engine bay, But just a suggestion that Nissan makes a Cold Air too. So look into it.
