Ya bro, dont chun out, wait a bit, get a nice set of nismo rims or something light along those lines, Nismos are 18lbs for the 18" and 20lbs for the 19" go for those.

If its a cash thing, then use ur current tires with a nice set of 18" rims and get the tires later.

Peace,
Kamski

I think either color is fine, but the lips will make them look like they're 15's on our cars.

I think buying rims for a car is a big deal. There are many factors to consider - size, weight, look, ease to clean, cost, clearance for brakes, etc. Wheels and tires are expensive compared to other mods, but have the most effect on the car. Do your research carefully and take your time. I have bought two sets of rims for my car since i owned it, bronze A techs and now my new RH Evolution J5 black with red lip. Both are nice, both have a`certain look. The RH rims are better rims and you can tell. But the bronzies are no slouch. Almost everyone said I should not go with bronzies. When I did, almost everyone loved them. Not everyone liked the idea of the black with red lip, but when they went on the car, it made it look superb. It attracts huge attention (not my intent when i got em), they are lightweight, wider than stock (18x9), and stunning, especially in the light.
I'm not trying to boast, but merely showing you what` I considered. Bottom line, go with what you like, but don't rush it. Do ur homework, check out rims on other cars to give you ideas, and test fit the rim before you buy, cuz it may look like sh*t on the car, you never know.

You won't have any issues with rubbing if you lower with Porgress or Eibach. I am lowered on coilovers and I don't rub (just a bit in the fenderwell at speed qwhen I hit a drop) Look around guys like Tek have 22's with no rubbing.
The diameter difference from 17's to 20's is very minimal becuase as you size up your sidewall goes down. Hers's an example:
245/45R-17 25.68 in.
245/35R-19 25.75 in.
245/35R-20 26.2 in.

So you can see from 17 to 20 it's less than 1/2 an inch difference...

Like Deus said don't rush into anything, come out to the Stillen meet, you can see examples of different 6th gens with different size wheels...

I would say definitely don't down size, if anything stay at 18".
In the end it's completely to you, just don't have any regrets!!
(and for the record I'm on my 3rd set of wheels since I've had my car!!)

Looks like you don't have much options right now. Get these because you have too, and if you don't like them then save some more money and sell them. For $800, you could have bought new rims and kept the old tires since new tires cost as much if not more than the rims themselves.

Aren't you lowered? Your gonna have the 4x4 look again unless you buy the right size rubbers. Stock SL on 17's ride 225/55/17. The 245/45 is going to look waaaay short...

I would go with a slightly larger tire, use this to compare

http://www.miata.net/garage/tirecalc.html

245/45 17 is gonna look really small, you need a 225 or 235/50 17

Best reply to date. Kills me that I bought tires before rims (safety issues) as my RSAs were like racing slicks. After spending ~$800 for my G-Forces I didn't feel like loosing money by selling them and rebuyin them in size 19". Now I think I should have done that. Dude, if you can't afford it now, just put it on credit and pay off in 6 months or so. I guarantee you will regret getting these 17" rims. We all have 18-20" rims and are lowered with ZERO rubbing issues.

Your call.

I think going to 17's is a mistake. I have 18x9 with tire size 265 35 18, lowered on Progress springs with no rubbing.
