2007 Nav Upgrade

Right now I have a 2007 SE with bose, without nav. Is it possible to replace the non-nav bose headunit with a navbose headunit?

It looks like it is possible in the 2007. The only big difference is, in the non-nav the aux in is on the headunit itself, whereas from pictures i found online, im not sure if its true, it seems the aux in is down lower by the little cig. power outlet.

Do you think it is possible by only swapping the headunits and what about the aux in? I would like to keep that.

Thanks - Mike

From what's been discussed b4, it can't. Apparently there is more tied into the car, and isn't simple plug-n-play.

apparently it has to be installed when the car is built. It can not be added later.... so the dealer says.... i personaly think that it a bunch of bull.... But there are better nav systems out there. Why not be a pimp and build a carputer with Nav???

I have seen it on an 05 or 06, but would like to see it on an 07...

Yeah installing stock Navi requires alot of work, sensors, new windshield etc...etc...
Haven't see the carputer yet, but double DIN will work (with no leftover uselss buttons either!!)

urgh, I was hoping it would be a simple headunit swap.

2LEET4U - I am not sure about the carputer since i have not seen it down in a 6.5 gen yet. Since in the 6 gen the screen was moved yet all functions were kept. Since the 6.5 is a little different. no easy place to move screen, and the old headunit has buttons needed for options i think, but that headunit would be where the double din computer screen would be?

jsmithsole Why is there a new windshield required? Is there a antenna in it? Im just curious since my windshield is cracked and insurance may cover my new one so maybe i could get that put in without a prob.

In all seriousness how much would it be? (a breakdown of each part would be nice) - ill probably drop my jaw when i hear the actual numbers and this will unconvince me.

I beleive it's becuase there's an antenna, not sure, just remember hearing that somewhere. I also remember a dealer quoting $8000-$9000 to install stock Navi!!

yea i just wish i actually knew a nissan tech that could shed light on this.

I have the service manual.... and doesn't appear to be anything tooo crazy or that different, basically they don't go to extreme ends to explain the procedures you'd have to do to a 07 max with nav as opposed to one without, or give diff wiring diagrams for each... so i'm assuming it's not that different.

As far as the windshield.... if there are 2 part #s for it, one for with nav, the other without then i can see that..... but then again, i can't see where the antenna would be.... and for what?

I know the gps unit is in the dash.... I'm digging... and will get to the bottom of this!

I heard that the entire engine wiring harness needs to be replaced and is too expensive to be done..

Just wondering if the following can be done... add the screen or display same as the Nav but without hooking up the navigation option, but still get all the data display you receive on the Non-Nav model (ex: MPG, DTE, MPH, A/C flow data)....

I have an 07 SE with out Navi also, and was thinking about adding an aftermarket Navi unit (Pioneer AVIC-Z2)...but wasn't feeling the way the top display (A/C, MPG etc..) data would look with it...

Any ideas or inputs would be greatly appreciated....

Thanks,
