Fujita vs. Weapon R

I have been using the Weapon R Secret Weapon short ram intake for the past year and loved it. After all the Fujita cold air intake hype I decided to get one and just installed it this past weekend. Comparing the two, the Weapon R is about twice as loud and sounds twice as good! I'm not really impressed with this Fujita cold air intake. It's not as quick to respond as my Weapon R and I can definitely feel a difference in torque. With the Weapon R, my car seemed to take off at around 3,000 rpm's but now with the Fujita its about twice as slow and I can't take off like I used to. I never believed the hype about the Weapon R (http://www.mimousa.com/weapon-r-secret-weapon.htm) performing better than a cold air, but now after having both, I DO! Unless I installed it wrong and there's just not enough air going to the air filter, I don't know. I checked all the connections and everything seems good. It just seems the torque isn't there like there's not enough air getting to the filter like it should. Any suggestions before I switch back to the Weapon R?

The short ram still retains low end while the Fujita robs you of low end and helps out a lot at mid-top end

Sound and perception of feel mean nothing without documented change via a dyno or track times...

but the weapon r I think has both higher end hp and low end tq, I can really feel the difference. It's much easier to pass someone up with my weapon r than with the fujita. It just takes off like a rocket but with the fujita, i really have to hit the gas in order to get it moving. I probably keep it on another week and switch back to the weapon r.

You'r making me re-think the entire WAI over the CAI thing in general though, CAI will generate more power on short tracks where you need a cold air charge vs a hot air charge from the engine bay. In hi-speed tracks where there is enough air moving over the engine you should be ok with the WR.

agree 100%... there is no way in a qtr mile run that a weapon r will put out better numbers than a cai

before you sell it... take your car to the track... or a dyno and see what it puts down ...

This will solve this question...

Anyone know how much a dyno run would cost ?

Don't think I need to. I've had the weapon r on for so long that after putting the fujita, there's a big difference in my opinion. Don't think I need to dyno. I just like the weapon r better. Thanks everyone for your input. So if anyone wants a week old fujita, let me know.

So, where are the independent dynos of the 2 intakes on the same car?

Kicks. dyno that Weapon R once you get it back on. I know there have been several dynos with the Fujita. I agree, because CAI robbed my take off too but at the same time my mid-high end is a lot stronger than it used to be.

If you could dyno that would be great. (If what you say is true, I'll sell my Nismo CAI and go with the Weapon R)

Unfortunitely what most people forget about any aftermarket intake is like any bolt up mod, unless you have a T/S reflash of your ECU or an APEXi Super AFC or NEO tuning computer, you will never realize the full potential of a bolt up mod without Dyno Tuning...

Give it a few weeks and youll see that it slowly goes away some. Upper rpms feel strong but seems to loose some tq.

IMO I have yet to see one short ram intake (Weapons-R, Stillen, Berk) out perform an Injen, Nismo, or Fujita CAI

I was very torn between the berk and the injen, the injen is way better quality but I loved the sound of the berk. I havent found any dynos of the berk and their website was down for a while so I went ahead with the injen. Im still happy but I wonder what the berks like.

I smell it, especially with that link directly to its US distributor.

Oh a little rage issue here I see. So sensitive over a mere suggestion, makes me a hater?

Good luck with your intake, I really mean it, regardless of which one you sell, ....I mean, install.

hahah haters? dood we asked you to just dyno it before you do anything so that we can solve this problem..

You feel more power because its easy to accerealte from 0-60 VS being at 75 try to go to 110

If you had the fujita u would for sure feel a better difference at a higher RPM
