Cabin air filter replacement

I didn't find a sticky or instructions on changing a 6th generation cabin air filter.

Has anybody changed it? Any instructions, perhaps pictures on changing this filter?

2 clips on the bottom of your glove compartment-take them out, the left one goes out right and the right one goes out left

let your glove box "hang" gently and now you see the panel to remove for the filter-REMOVE it using common sense and swap the filter out, re-install everything in reverse order and you are done!

pretty much what he said... I took the retracting cable off to take the glove box out completely though.. it's really pretty simple.

and do yourself a favor and pop those two clips to the air filter box with a small, regular screw driver or something similar. I got some good cuts the first time by doing it by hand. Once you've done it once, it takes all of 3 minutes for the complete job.

I think the clips were the easiest part. The bungee cord was the hardest and figuring out which way the ****ty filter went in. I got it from the dealership and it was completely different from the one that was there. So much for stocking OEM parts huh?

How often do you have to change this? 15k miles? 30k miles? Or is this time based vs miles based.

thanks!

It'll have a lot to do with how dirty/polluted the air is around where you drive most often.

Change every spring for best performance. Lots of dust is collected furing summer/fall months and moisture sets in during fall/winter months sometimes causing a bad smell. If you don't drive much, change two years. If you do 15-20 k, i would change every year. They are less then $10.00 and it takes 10 minutes to change, well less if you don't talk much.

I believe Advanced carries a Purolator replacement for ~$12. It seems to function just fine.

Mine is probably bad because of the racing I did in Lone Pine. My car has 55,000 miles on it and never has been changed. I didnt notice any difference this morning when I turned the air on.

Yeah, I was gonna take pics but its so obvious. Check your owners manual. The hinge pins are right under the glove box door too.
