Our breaks.....

How good would you guys say our (brakes) are compared to most other similar cars on the road?

Stopping ability - Mine have been excellent. Every panic/emergency stop has been perfect. The ABS seems to work well.

Qulaity of rotors and pads - No better than average. Mine have done rather well, but I have seen countless folks here replacing the OEM rotors and pads with better quality stuff. Many have complained of vibration during braking.

They are better than a couple GM cars that I've also driven. They are nothing spectacular though.

The OEM brake pads does not handle heat that well. Ever notice
the stopping distance get worse during stop and go traffic. The only
advantages of the OEM pads are low dust and quiet.

Personally, I bought my Maxima used with 43K miles and has had horrible braking vibration since then, can't wait to replace my rotors and pads to same equipment as Chernmax.

However, that'll have to wait until September after vacation time; family comes first when budgeting.... I have to admit I'm dying to change them now!

Like any OEM product it is fair at best, However Braking is all dependent of how you drive, I find no reason to drive the Max hard because well it doesnt pull hard. It is a 4 door sedan, not much power Example I have many vehicals

1) F650 My tow vehical
2) Asc Mclaren Mustang, My accasional suny day driver
3) 01 Ford Lightning (Drag truck occasional cruise-in)
4) f350 dually My daily driver
5) 1932 for roadster My cruise-in car
6) Custom build chopper
7) Gen 6 maxima wifes daily driver

all brakes on these stock vehical suck, but the only one that really needed changed where the 32, the Lightning and the Mclaren as well as the chopper. All of those vehicals are hi-performance which them max is not so If you soup up the car and you feel that you need to change brakes becasue your Cars engine output is to great for your braking ability then go for it, but Unless force inducted, I dont see the reason for rompin on a 4 door sedan, But hey thats just me!!!

You can say that again!

Either way, a car that can do 140+ once in a while, () needs some good brakes
