Exhaust Questions for an '05 Auto

Hi all, I haven't posted in a while because school has been consuming my free time, but I recently installed a Stillen CAI and an Unorthodox UP and absolutely love the increase in power and the brutal sound of the intake. I'm curious to know what everyone feels is the best exhaust system as far as a clean resonance/sound (I don't want a fart can from Pep Boys), and I also want to keep the dual tipped mufflers because the back of the Maxima just looks empty without them. I'd like to hear some examples of what systems are out there...so far the only one I've heard and like is the one on FastMax05's. I look forward to responses, and if you can't post the sounds on this forum, go ahead and e-mail me please at: carmack614@gmail.com

Thanks,
Steven

This has been on my mind as well.

One of the nicer sounding, and looking, exhaust I've seen so far is the Remus

Is that Remus setup mufflers only, or is it a full cat-back?

Everything here on this site is a single pipe setup to a split muffler back.

for ultimate performance get a custom built setup... like so

http://www.nissanclub.com/forums/eng...test-pipe.html

Just get different mufflers on the back... like the REMUS ones Chernmax has.... DROOL WORTHY

YOU LAAAAIKE!!!?

Im completely satisfied with my Magnaflow setup. Along with a Magnaflow resinator and crimped section removal, they sound great.

As noted, the Remus system is 2 universal mufflers in Rev3 stepped inlet design. 2-2.25-2.5, you trim to your desired size.

We can offer 10% off to all Maxima.org members. PM me if interested.

With the 2.5" true-dual setup, after the 10% off (which is the same discount I get at Target, and Target sux), how much am I looking to spend? This just sounds ridiculous for 8whp/10torques. I'm nearly better off selling the car and buying a used G35, hahaha.

The place that did that guys work is 5 minutes from me.

Maybe I'll check it out.

Would a custom built setup w/ Remus mufflers be louder then the OEM piping w/ Remus mufflers? I don't want a really loud exhaust.

This is headers + greddy 2.5 piping + 2.5 Remus dual universal mufflers

Loud? Maybe....I think it sounds marvelous

The answer to your question is yes.

Steven, the Twin Turbos Rev3 run at about 363 each, that means 726....around 650 shipped with the discount.

So a custom built setup w/ remus cans should sound like chern's setup w/ the, headers, 2.5 greddy piping, and remus mufflers, correct?

I just didn't want to have a shop fab up the piping and it sound like a fart bag even w/ the remus cans.

I'm not even sure if you can buy the greddy piping and headers without buying the greddy cans or else I'd maybe go that route.

There is no need to have the Greddy 2.5 Piping...that can be custom made.
You can see undercar shots of Chernmax's car to get an idea of how the piping is layed out.

What kind of HP gain can you expect from a pair of Rev3 Twin Turbo mufflers?

Are you still doing the 13% off for a pair?

I would just like to say that you will not be getting headers for awhile. Hotshots is out of business and Cattman is still working on a set-up. I was lucky that I was able to get a set. A member here was parting out his Max. A couple of guys I know brought headers off of E-bay. The reason chernmax has the greddy piping is that he had a Greddy SP-2 cat-back system. He just cut off the mufflers and had the Remus welded on. He also has a CAI and URP.

If you can find one it. CE is also out of business. I sold mine when I installed the headers. You can post a WTB in the 6th gen sales thread and maybe someone has one tucked away somewhere. I will ask around here in NY to see if members have one.

I don't like how big the actual muffler is on the greddy.

it's probably the remus or magnaflows...I was all ready to order the remus untill I took a last look at these pics.

then go with magnaflow remus doesnt make a exhaust for the maxima. Borla isnt bad either. its all up to you and your liking.

Chern has a different bumper or lower skirt then I have, and it has a more pronounced cutout for the exhaust. Maybe the remus will fit better w/ the stock bumper that I have.

I really want the twin future

I think I'm going to take a chance and just get them.

How far do you guys think I should have the exhaust tips come out...right where the OEM muffler tips are now or maybe like an inch or so out further?

I don't want them sticking out past the bumper...maybe just flush w/ the edge of the bumper.

Our website is www.remusexhaustshop.com

See under "universal", chern's setup are the "Twin Turbo" mufflers.

The Twin Future are much more expensive because they are discontinued, if you see a site that advertises them for much lower, around 330, it's an error because they are discontinued and need to be specially ordered.

I would recommend the Twin Round, Twin 02, Twin Turbo or Twin Angled.
They are all Rev3s except Twin Round which is a regular 2.25" inlet.

I went to the stealership to order a Nismo CAI for my 06 SE (275.00) and asked them about mufflers, they said removing the center muffler would throw the o2 sensors off and check light would stay on. They said there was no Nismo muffler parts for Maximas. They also said they would have to reflash my computer for the CAI to adjust the idle, and it would only be 40 bucks which seems cheap. They told me however there was no way to remove the ECU's speed limiter, which I really would like to do. They also said my warranty would be fine with a Nismo CAI. So I guess my questions are:

1. Nismo CAI, requires reflash?
2. Maxima exhaust centerpipe, best set up without messing with ECU?
3. Anybody removed the speed limiter from their Maxima?

Thanks for any feedback.

Hmm, that's the first time I hear a dealership reflashing the ECU with a Nismo intake. $40 is not too bad either.
