Carbob Fiber CAI???

I saw the flash of a Carbon Fiber CAI on TV the other night. Does anyone know who makes them and are they any good. Also, is there any performance issues between them and polished aluminum??

A cai that is Carbon Fiber? I haven't heard of something like that...that would be cool! I'm sorry I don't even know where to even look.

No takers eh? I haven't heard of this before either. The only possible advantage I could think of this that aluminum transfers heat like crazy so the intakes get hot, maybe the carbon fiber wouldn't heat up so much but I doubt it.

I would stick with some of the tried and true intakes. Post some pics or a link if you actually find one. It would be interesting to check it out.

Just saw a site www.carboniointakes.com that makes intake for European vehicles. Their research indicates that carbonfiber allows cooler air than plastic or aluminum. I wonder where we can get out hands on some???

I know Dinan makes carbon fibre intakes for bimmers. I guess you could try get them to make you one, but look forward to dropping about 1K on an intake though.

Taz-

If you have a contact maybe they could creat another cast for the maxima fans. Hey, maybe they could let a few of us try prototype for them??? by the way 96blkonblkse if they can put one on an Audi for under $400.00 I think they can do the same for us. It's not like there isnn't a market for aftermarket Maxima product.

I have looked into it, and I am making an intake for the max. But it's a really steep initial cost to me to make them in CF (read $20K) and I'm not sure it'd be that big of a seller as they'd be about $270-$300 range. I'm sure they would sell it's just how many could I actually sell to make it worth it.

Production time is actually not that long either as Carbonio is local. About 2-4 weeks for tooling, then another 4-6 weeks for the product to roll out. If you guys are seriously interested and can get a running list of people who would shell out that kind of cash, I'll concider it. Otherwise your stuck with the aluminum 1 piece short ram with heat shield I'm making
