Ladies and Gent's, I just found out that if you hold down the unlock button on the remote or alarm control, your windows would roll down!!!. that is impressive. How many people already knew that????

95-99 has it and so do 02-07. Take a look at the owners manual. Also, stick the key in, and turn. Depending on the direction you turn the key, it will roll them up, or down (with respect to the direction you turn).

o wow I actually knew this because my buddies 4th gen does it and I'm pretty sure that many know this and have talked about it, but I have never tried it up until 5 seconds ago and it works! I thought it was only on the elite package though, so that's why I never tried.

is what I feel like right now! lolololololololol

I found that out a while ago in another thread. Nice feature from the factory. My co-worker was comparing his Mercedes to my Max and when I made the windows roll down with the key fob he didn't have anymore questions.

Another cool feature that I read on the sticker or in the manual (can't remember which), if you put your windows up with the auto feature, and you put your am in the window as it's on it's way up, it will bounce off your arm and go back down. It works a lot like a garage door. As long as you 'auto up', it will work. Your sunroof will do the same thing.

Who wants to test this out to see if it works??? hehe Is there a way to set the car up so the mirrors automatically fold in when you shut the key off?

That's the anti-pinch feature and is present on almost all cars that have auto-up windows as a mandated safety requirement. Corollas and such have them.

I saw an S500 Mercedes have that option, I wish there was a way to find their wiring scheme and see if we could duplicate it.

As S Klass said, federal regulations require the 'anti-pinch' feature on all vehicle windows/sunroofs with either auto or remote closing option. Having two preschool granddaughters, I was very careful to confirm this worked correctly on my windows and sunroof as soon as I bought my SL. The 'bounce-back' feature worked in all cases, but required more force than I felt was acceptable. It works fine with adult appendages, but could allow serious injury to the neck of a two or three year old.

Speaking of safety issues, the child seat brackets in the 6th gen Maxima are not as easy to use as in most vehicles. This has also been noticed by Consumer Reports, and will surely be rectified in the 7th gen Maxima.

Do all of the windows go down or just the two front ones? I couldn't make them go up in the same way though

eK9aT10pSi (That looks more like a password than an ident) and bb700092 -

Federal regs used to prohibit being able to raise car windows from a remote location because the person raising them may not be within view of the car and unaware of what or who may be draped across a window sill. The concern here, of course, was the possibility of small children playing in the car.

I understand there has been some relaxation of this rule, as long as it applies to windows with automatic reverse if something keeps the window from closing all the way. Despite some who may feel differently, I have never seen a Maxima on which one could raise the windows automatically from a remote location.

As to the windows not going up or down at exactly the same time, I have always assumed this is Nissan's way of reducing the initial power surge of getting the windows moving by very slightly offsetting the starting times. But that is just my guess. This slight offset is also noticable if one tries to manually raise or lower them simultaneously using the inside window controls.

--------------

Here is a summary as to how my '04 SL works:

Put key in driver's door lock and turn to the right - driver's door unlocks. If the key is then allowed to return to center, then turned to the right again, the other three doors unlock. With doors already unlocked, turn the key to the right and hold it five seconds and all auto up/down windows (on the Maxima, this is the two front ones) roll down. Turning the key all the way left and releasing it locks all doors. Turning it left again and holding it there five seconds rolls the front windows back up.

All functions I have listed can also be done with the keyfob, EXCEPT rolling the windows back up.

There are of course dozens of nuances to the Maxima entry system. For instance, if you use the fob to unlock the doors as you approach the car, and do not physically open a door within one minute, the doors automatically relock.

The Driver's Manual says the keyfob has an operational range of 33 feet (10 meters), but that is way too low. The longest measured distance at which I have been able to lock my car was over 350 feet, and I routinely use the fob to lock the car from over 150 feet. Of course this distance drops when there are objects between the fob and the car.

Nuff said!

I didn't know about the key/windows/up though, that will be so handy when I get out of the car only to find the kids didn't roll up the windows

Since were on the subject of things we didn't know abou the car.

1. Didn't realize the center console elevated to a higher position. (Use it when I get on the cellphone.) Found it months after having the car.
2. The runs 1/4mi fastest if you leave the car in drive as opposed to bumping it over to manualmatic mode. Found that out first time at the track.
3. There's a little flap covering a slot/hole to the outside of the car in the trunk, it's just behind the rear wheel wells under all the trunk mats. (Found that like 2weeks ago)

Guess that's what happens when you don't the manual

It's not an extra feature. It's the backup, mirror tilt feature. If you flip the switch to the right, put car in reverse, passenger mirror points down, if you flip the switch to the left, reverse, drivers mirror points down. The Passenger mirror tilt is more handy than the drivers tilt unless you parallel park often.

(This was also in the manual, of which I read EVERY page, and even watched the DVD on my car the night I drove it home)

Another feature for those who don't know.... How many folks set their "zone" on their mirror compass?

What do you mean by #1? I haven't found an "elevated" position on my 07, nor did I see that in my manual. The arm rest on the console does move forward to 2 different positions, but I haven't found elevated.

The armrest lifts up to open but it also moves forward and it moves up as it moves forward.

Well, just looked, played with it a bit. Mine moves 2 notches forward, but no upward motion at all. My seats move up/down, my steering wheel up, down, in, out, I guess I don't need my armrest to do anything more than extend out. Kinda like the 3 wasted buttons on my console, heated seats, heated wheel. Last thing I need is more "heat" in Florida...... Why couldn't they be A/C seats/wheel. Now that'd be slick...

In my 07 SL, the armrest does move forward two notches but I don't think it goes up.

Did you guys know this? When you open the armrest cover, there is a velvety space to keep things in. This velvety space is like a container that comes out and below it is quite a bit of space that also hosts a power outlet. That power outlet in my car was uncovered even though the cover was there. I covered it.
