Switched back to springs from the coilovers. Before coilovers I was on eibachs, now im on Progress and Gr-2s and the ride is GREAT!!! Also got my carbon fiber rear window spoiler in so I decided to wash the car and take some pics now that im actually driving it again. I missed driving my car. Oh, I also had a set of MMIs installed, lemme know what yall think. Its good to be back in the moddin game.

Car looks great, I just purchased a JDM style roof spoiler from Jose and after my Turbo install next month, cars going in for paint and body up front and I'm doing my roof Onyx black between the chrome strips... Great job glude!!!
Car looks nice Glude. We are glad you "PROGRESSED" your way back into the world of non-coilover Maxima's. But don't fret, the front of your car is sorta coilover/coilover strut, or as I like to say-"spring over strut" (spring=coil). As for the rears, they are on thier own.
Interesting enough, on 6th Gens the Engineers seperated the shock & spring/coil for improved ride quality. Another side benefit is they are easier to work on & replace.
The main reason struts are popular in the front (especially FWD) is space savings. Struts versus shocks w/springs don't neccesarily have a advantage in terms of ride quality or handling (can go either way). Why are struts more expensive than shocks? Because struts have to support the vehicles weight therefore needing sturdier construction. The spring over the strut is supported by the strut. Not the case with shocks...springs support the vehicle.
Is there an advantage in using a coilover shock versus a non-coilover?
A coilover has some advantages. But coilovers are limited to the physical advantages of using a smaller spring. So the Pro's for a aftermarket coilover system is performance, tire/wheel size, looks, adjustability/customization (spring rates, dampening, height, etc...), and reliability. For racing, coilovers are definetly the best way to go.
Generally when dropping a car the spring rates go up at least a little to quite a bit. The stock struts and replacements do not generally do to well controlling the increased spring rate. Koni's can! This is why a great Koni adjustable non-coilover system is the best (except for racing).
In general, you will get better ride quality with "non-coilover setups" due to the availability of diameter of springs, and spring rates.
Basically, a bonifide Koni/AGX non-coilover system cost the same as a coilover system.

Springs/Shocks/Struts 101 with Professor CoolMax!
That was really informative, thanks.
Glude, she looks great. I dig the rims as well. Not over the top, and not an understatement, but class, style and a bit of aggression all rolled into one.

I think it looks alright, from far away it looks black to me... and to me- black is beautiful. If it were mine it would be.................... BLACK!!
Your car is gonna look killer, are u keeping the current wheels with the BBK
CF looks great if there are other CF parts. Also, I think CF can look good on a black or dark car. It just seems a bit out of place on the red. I do think black and red go great together. Look at my car and Cherns car.
