JDM NIssan Steering wheel

Ok, Im at it again. NOw that I have seats on the way, I HAVE to start looking at steering wheels. I want an air bag but I dont care that much about radio controls and cruise control. Yeah yeah, I know you all cant make any radical changes like that. I wanted a Nissan product, but they all look alike, sort of. Then . . . . I stumbled across these Nissan JDM steering wheels for the 350Z:

What do you think???

It would be cool to use something like the G37 steering wheel. I wonder if the steering wheel controls would be the same since it is an Infiniti. Would be cool to use the paddle shifters too for the steptronic transmission if that was an option...

I forgot the new Nissan Rogue also has paddle shifters. I actually like its steering wheel. Take a look for yourself under interior pictures.

Wow looks great, I like both equally but prefer #2 if I had to choose, does is have an airbag??? Only reason I wouldn't do it is I also like my stereo / cruise controls and the heated steering wheel...

Im gonna surprise you guys with the seats. I think you'll be pleased. Regarding the steering wheels; just to clarify, in my first post, the top pic is the same wheel as the bottom pic and the middle pic is a different one.

Top is #1 and bottom is #2, right?

I like #2 as well. They both have air bags and they cost around $600-700. They have to be imported form Japan of course but some places import them and may have them in stock. Im workin on it. If there was a group buy, it would be even better.

looks good, but not sure if its worth 700..I mean its kinda a downgrade, since you're loosing the steering wheel controls for looks..But yeah, good luck cant wait to see how it comes out.

Thats why I suggested the Rogue's wheel or G37. Both have controls and paddle shifters

I have 6 speed so paddles wouldn't do me any good. I just got off the phone with Performance Nissan and Andy there told me that he "was 90% sure the Z steering wheel wouldn't fit the Maxima because the hub is different." I don't give up easily but Im not sure what the best way to find out if the Z wheel will fit a Maxima since no one has replaced a Maxima steering wheel that I'm aware of.
Any of you Nissan experts know if the Z wheel interchanges with a Maxima wheel?

link to the Rogue - http://www.nissanhelp.com/Models/2008/Rogue/Photos.htm

link to G37 - http://www.infinitihelp.com/Infiniti...upe/Photos.htm

The G and Rogue wheels are fairly ordinary in my opinion.

There are hub adapters that you might be able to use since you have to get them with all after market steering wheels.

It would have to fit on a Maxima shaft and accept a Z wheel. I wish I knew more about these newer steering wheels. In the old days, they werent complicated. I can't believe I'm saying "in the old days."

I like the Momo better. Fits better with the Maxima and still deviates enough to give a sharper look. The second one looks like a racecar wheel.

Of course, that's what your going for

Actually they are both Momo, but I see that its hard to read that on the second one. I agree with you. They are bot nice looking and the second one looks more racey than the first.

But since you don't really need it, I vote for #1. The one on the car with the right hand drive. Wheel #2 I'm not feeling it, kinda plain with just the circle in the middle, looks like it should be on go-karts.

I looked at other forums in here - 4th and 5th Gen forums - and they seem to think the Z steering wheel would fit. The Altima steering wheel goes on the Maxima for sure. I just wish I could confirm it.

A guy just emailed me and said he can get me the JDM steering wheel but would have to order it. He said he has a Nismo one in stock but I dont like them. I asked how long the wait was. Waiting for response.

By the way, #2 also has red stitching, but you cant see it at the angle of that pic, although you can see it better mounted in that Z in the very first pic. I had teh same reaction to that pic as I did when I sat in that Evo and saw the shift ****. I knew that was what I was looking for.

Now if I can think of a clever way to mount the radio controls and cruise controls in the steering wheel, or somewhere else . . . .

I chose a steering wheel and its on its way. I also found out that the 350Z steering wheel is slightly smaller in diameter than ours. Maxima- 15" 350Z-14 3/8"
