Mack is Mackin'.

Looks great with the 350Z wheels. I like those but I liked the slanted cut tips a little more.

very nice indeed. Sticking out too much by my standards but looks great regardless. What else did you change in your exhaust system, I am sure it wasn't mufflers only. What dia. tubing did you run?

The only reason after market pipes look bigger sticking out is because most are bigger in diameter, have thicker and better polished sidewall and OEM pipes have shorter outer pipes to go more with the curvature of the rear bumper where as after market mufflers (duels) are equal length thus the outer ones stick out more. Hands down your pipes look 100% better then stock IMO. Great job!!!

Thats why I was looking at setups with short'er tips.

1.)

14805
Double Wall, Straight Cut
2.25" Inlet, 3.5" Diam. Tips
3.75" Tip Length
5" x 8" Oval Body
14" Muffler Body Length

2.)

14807
Double Wall, Straight Cut
2.25" Inlet, 4" Diam. Tips
3.75" Tip Length
5" x 8" Oval Body
14" Muffler Body Length

vs.

14816
Double Wall, Straight Cut
2.25" Inlet, 3.5" Diam. Tips
6.5" Tip Length
5" x 8" Oval Body
14" Muffler Body Length

Now, I am by no means saying that his setup is not nice. Yes it is 100 times better than OEM. Its just that I am looking for a "tucked-in" style.

I've been quoted $300 for a job. It's a pro shop and the guy says he will do it right without cutting corners. Thats for replacing the crimp, doing the split and installing the mufflers. I just need all the 411 for the IDs of the pipes from you guys.

KCMaxx is right. These can easily be adjusted by the exhaust guy putting these on. I let mine go with his instinct as he does incredible work. Also, these really don't come out as much as it appears in some pics, like Chern said they are just SOOO much bigger than stock it may appear that way at times. Checkout from this angle and you may agree. And like Chern said, 100% better than stock for sure. Also, the guy widened my pipes from the Y-Split back. Not sure what dia he went with but it was larger than original.

Mack, what all did you have done? When I had mine installed (14816) I had them replace the stock resonator w/ a Magnaflow and also removed the "crimped" piece. The sound is amazing... Much deeper that just mufflers.

I haven't messed with the resonator but if I knew Magnaflow made one I would probably consider it. My next step is the Y-pipe then go from there. Sound is already incredible but I'm damn sure curious what your sounds like. Got any pics of that baby?

Isn't the "crimp" necessary for back pressure? Or am I thinking of something else?

KC,

I'm looking to cut off my greddy mufflers for a cleaner look and the 14816 caught my eye as well as the shorter 14805. But I only chose the 14805 because the 816's were out too far one of the reasons why I want to get rid of the greddy mufflers. How far in can you have them moved? I would want them almost flush with the rear bumper but out a little because I plan to do the stillen rear.

Yes, however if you are installing performance mods and have an A/F management computer and get it Dyno Tuned, you can help your car achieve the true potential of the performance parts as well as HP gains...

chern,

If I don't have any computer now and don't want to dyno tune it yet what can I possibly change without throwing CELs and/or loosing power. Even if it was purely for cometic reason/noise. I was thinking of changing the crimped piece and everything from there on. Should I also change the resonator? Eventually y-pipe would be changed too.

Also, my understanding is that there are two options as far as the split goes in the back

either do 2.25" into 2x 2.25

or do 2.25" into 2x 1.75" which I think was the way catman had it split. I think somebody already asked this question in another thread but I didn't find it answered.

I went with the 14807's since I wanted a more "tucked in" look with the tips flush to the bumper- just personal preference. Also I liked the 4 " tips because they blend in better visually with the muffler

Sorry to go off topic, but where did you get that roof spoiler? Doesn't look small like the Ionic one...

Now THAT is a great idea my friend. I digress. The "sleeper" is always a sweet strategy for sure.

And MadMax. Thanks for posting not only the rear shot with Magnaflows but the front vanity shot as well. You can really makeout how good the exhaust looks from that angle.

I didn't notice any power loss with the "crimp" removed. If anything it felt stronger. I'll post some pics of what I had done (again...)
