Chernmax Phase 1 of 3 complete
OK, long day but phase 1 is complete:
- Installed D2 Coilovers
- Installed Wilwood 4 Piston BBK with 13.25" rotors
- New front steel braided brake lines
- Eibach 5mm spacer
- Flushed brake system and added Havoline synthetic brake fluid
- Vehicle alignment
- Oh and when I got home my new 2007 Nissan NAVI DVD software version 6.6 arrived so I installed that also...
Sorry the car is nowhere clean by my standards...
On the D2's WOW freakin WOW, car drives and launches dead flat, what a feeling. I went down some back twisting roads and had to smoke a cigarette when I got home, it was that exciting. The brakes at first had some minor noise but after the first 4 stops, the sound was gone and even though I'm not riding them hard, they stop significantly better than OEM. Wilwood also claims these brakes work best with an ABS system, they were right about that. Last, we weighed all the parts and compared the difference on what came off verse what went on, red heat went on a 55lb diet FTW!!! Anyway tired but overall a good day...

The rest of the weight 20lbs+ were from the difference in weight from the cast rotors and calipers verse the Wilwood BBK...

The difference in weight between the front struts, rear shocks and Eibach springs verse the coilovers were 35lbs lighter!!! Right now I'm getting parts installed then I'm going to focus on the attention to detail items like matching color calipers etc....

Setup looks fantastic!!! However, your rotors are backwards. I installed my rotors with the vanes facing backwards like that also.... in about a week I had to get Brian to send me a new pair of rotors as they were overheating and shaking like mad.
ANywhoo, Brian explained to me that the direction of the vanes must be centrifugal, they should be pulling air from the inside and expelling it outward.
You have it scooping air right now. Simply put, your rotors are on the wrong sides, thease are not like uni-directional stock rotors they have to be matched to the correct side.
Just swap them around and get the rears to around to match.

Hope this helps, a lot is riding on your brakes, the slots on your brakes dont matter as much as the direction of the cooling vanes.

Kam, thanks again for the 411, you are correct and after talking with fastbrakes and showing the data you provided we are in agreement. Today the shop swapped the rotors so they are now going the correct direction. BUT, BUT, BUT, after talking with fastbrakes the freakers told me the 350Z rear Wilwood kit fits the Max and I now have a complete rear Wilwood kit being shipped. Damn, premium brakes all around and the car goes on a diet again!!! Thanks bro, I think...
!!! I think I have found my future BBK then! I love the subtle color of the WilWoods and the price is conservatively low compared to other BBK.
****, I need to take it easy on the brakes I have now, so that they last me long enough before I can get these!
You better be posting pictures Mister!

The car looks like a driving enthusiast dream come true.
Stance looks awesome. The flat turning has got to be a absolute blast to drive around turns. Not only does your car look amazing, it performs amazing as well. I would have paid good money to see the "live" install. I'm shivering just thinking about it. To actually be involved up close and personal with the whole thing is the absolute ultimate (you know that).
Folks listen, learn, and appreciate. We are all here to witness this metamorphisis and ol' what fun it is!
Do it Bro. Live your dream and ours as well...
