I just finish to install my CAI.... and the sound its awesome and i like the new looks too

i forgot i got 1 problem when i got the intake its missing the vibra-mount so thers no suport on the intake.... any of you guys whats the good idea and wher can i get a new suport on the intake? Thnx

I would tie wrap it, bungee cord it, or whatever in the mean time, thats a lot of weight and stress on the throttle body. Open the hood, have someone start the car for you and mesh the gas while your observing the movement and you will see what I mean!!!

Harder compound that is mainly used for suspension bushings to make handling more "firm." If you were to put a solid mount in there, then the bracket would be bound to snap off of the intake sooner or later. I know of a few people that had that happen with the rubber mount!

Man, make sure you get with Stillen about the rubber vibra mount part, especially if it was missing. I'm sure they'll send you a new one, but like Chern says, definitely get some support in there for the meanwhile. Other than that, nice install man, and welcome to the club! Be sure to keep those hose clamps nice and tight. Mine loosened up a bit for the first few weeks and I had to keep tightening them.

I want to get a CAI and have been doing some reading lately regarding that. I have a few questions:

1. My car is very quiet. And I want it to be at least that way, if not quieter. Does installing a CAI always increase noise?

2. Does the increase in hp by installing a CAI in a 6th gen maxima noticable if I am driving with automatic CVT in normal city streets and highways (and not racing tracks)? If yes, at what speeds?

3. Do I lose any gas mieage by installing a CAI?

CAI is not for you friend.

 

1.) There will only be an increase in sound at WOT and a slight hissing noise while accelerating from the air getting sucked in. Nothing major though.

2.) Simply said, low end will be compromised a little bit, but it will be made up in the mid-top end.

3.) You will notice your gas mileage go down for the first couple of days or weeks...since you will be doing WOT to hear it! lol Other than that, you SHOULD notice an increase if you drive like a normal person.

I say get it, one of the best bang for buck mods there are. Pair it up with the NWP Intake Manifold Spacers and there's roughly 20 more hp.

There is also a Fujita CAI that is available in a wrinkled black finish to blend in with the engine bay nicely.

I got my NWP Spacer in last week and read the directions thoroughly last night, man that is a serious install there. Going to need a good free weekend to do it, but looking forward to it.

Thanks Mack for the links. That sound is a little too much for me. I can compromise 20hp for that sound. Maybe I will wait till there are quieter CAIs in the market.

 

Like Mack said, "ricer mathematically," yes you will. BUT, both of these are more for the mid-top end, so you will feel most of that approximate 20hp up top.

Has anyone tried or heard of anyone else trying to place a peltier cooler or two on their intake to further lower the air temp? Not sure if this would work out well, I guess it could cause moisture/ice to form on the inside of the intake tube or draw to much power from the alternator.... Probably to easy of a solution to work out well.

 

i made a suport for the intake... while im waiting for the Vibrant-mount to arive...... i guess this is good enough
