I have a slip when shifting 2 - 3 and 3 - 4 it's pretty intermittant but it's pretty harsh when it does it. 04 5AT 64k been doing it since 50k (at least), gave up on dealer telling me they couldn't make it happen. Supposed to be pretty common.

LOL!!!! Man my car is at the dealer for this same problem!!!!!!!! Slipping from 2-3!!

Took it in and they are ordering a new transmission for it. The tech was telling me that these trans came out bad. I only have 35k on it and its an 05. 5at.

They didnt tell me what caused it so im not sure either.

72,000 on mine just replaced transmission this past Tuesday. 04 SL. Covered by dealer, but shouldn't happen to a car that early.

I had a problem with my original tranny, shifting hard when cold and I lost a gear. Had it replaced under warranty and I still have some grind when it's cold. My work around is to let the car warm up before I drive. Get a remote start, it helps!

It is expected that when you start a thread, you will visit the thread often to respond to questions people might have for you. It seems that you started this thread on a baseless statement that you were on a forum and a **** load of 04 owners were having tranny problems. When people asked you what forum that is, you were not available for comment.

What exactly is your problem?

Mine sometimes slips from during the 2-3 shift if I've been on the interstate cruising at 70-80 MPH for about 30 minutes or so, then stop (like at an off ramp) and then take off - when I take off, the first time through the 2-3 shift it slips. The dealer says that this is normal, and that in certain situations the tranny is programmed to intentionally slip to relieve internal stresses... dunno, it didn't do that when it was new.

An 04 5AT with 58K here. Going to complain to the dealer one more time with specific info to see if they can offer anything other than "it's normal".

thats interesting. Thats the same problem as mine. I've just started experimenting with puting it in neutral as I coast to my stop. Only tried it once or twice so far and hasn't slipped but not enough times to tell for me. I've tried manumatic mode and it still does it then.
