WOW, never again will I tint another pair of taillights with vinyl!!!
Hey guys, I just got done tinting my taillights with that cheap film they give you from ebay and it was a pain in the ***. This is my second set because the first time I did it, it had wrinkles up the @$$. But I am happy with the results this time in which it took me 3 hours to get it right. I will post pics tomorrow, I really like em
Try VHT Nite shades. It's a spray tint. Just don't black them out and get popped like others have done. The key is to "tint" them...

probably niteshade, it's a tint spray + clear coat. Umm if you watch this video, you pretty much get the idea of how to do it. The first one was tricky but once to get the hang of it, the second one is a breeze. I went here: http://www.decalfx.com/applying_lens_film.html
Its very difficult. U need blow dryer, credit car put in a sock, or wrapped in rag, spray bottle with soapy water, and LOTS of patience. I couldnt do the tails, but I did do the headlight eyebrows, and chrome strip overlays. I may be able to do tails now, Im not sure. I have a better idea on how to do them.
I have used bluebat on three of my vehicles and I found the tails for my Max. to be the easiest of the three. I found the key on the Max. is to start at the hump in the middle and go out from there. Wal-mart or Home Depot sell a generic window tint kit which all you need is the scraper/squegee and it works much better than a credit card, 1/4 mixture of alcohol to water and the most important is a blow dryer.
The film will stretch more than you think with the dryer and the heat hitting the film. Start at the hump with the water mix and blow/squegee until it is stuck real good and work your way out. Just keep the heat on it and dont let the water dry until that is where you want it with no wrinkles.
Easy job should not take more than 1 1/2 hours.

Good advice!
go to a speed shop that does decals, a sign shop that does vinyl cutouts, fast signs or a kinko's with a sign and banner shop. they apply vinyl all the time and have the proper liquid to prevent ruining the decals when applying them. they will also have the right squeegees to get rid of air bubbles. if you ask nicely they might let you use the tools for free or you can slip a guy $20 and i'm sure they will be glad to do it for you
BTW - Where are you from? I watch Top Gear all the time and really like the show altough I don't always agree with Jeremy Clarkson. Personally I don't think that it was a wise decision to get that Ford GT because of the roads in England....And he thinks the butt of the Porsche Cayman is ugly...he is dead wrong....and if he knew a few more things about cars he would know that by installing an LSD (no not the drug) Limited Slip Dif. in the Cayman you could get a hell of lot more HP and performance out of the S. And IMO he should have gone with an Aston Martin for the same amount of Quids.

Bat™
I got mine on perfect in about 30 min. Just used the plastic card, a spray bottle, and a little stretching. Looks great and works even in hard rain or snow. Give them a few days to stretch, and some paitence. I love the hell out of mine. Guess some of us just get lucky on installs, but even though this was easy for me......once attempted tinting windows myself........bad mistake. Before you throw them out, just have a few beers, make sure it is a warm day, and mess with them.....this time of year is not the best time to make the things stretch. Just my 2 cents.
I agree this is very difficult to do.I tried Bat's tint. While the quality is very good working with this material is very difficult.I did finally get it done but there were to many wrinkles.Once it wrinkles its almost impossible to get them out.I had to take mine off, they looked to bad.
I have to say though, the finished product is worth the effort.Id like to try it again sometime.
