2007 Rear Bumper Cover on 2004 Maxima Assistance

I'm about to order a rear bumper cover for a 2007 Maxima to put on my 2004 since mine is dinged up from the previous owner. Before I order this, are there any additional parts I need to do this swap?

Also, I noticed the parts store I'm using gives me 3 options:

W/4 passenger
W/o 4 Passenger W/o sonar
W/o 4 Passenger W/sonar

Any idea which one I should order?

Looks like its going to be $190 shipped, then whatever the cost to get it painted.

well i doubt you need the sonar, unless you want to try wiring up the backup sensors somehow/someway. maybe call a dealer to see the differences. I would hope any would fit. Where did you find this? I want one for the same reason. (except I'm the previous/only owner)

The site I'm using is http://www.enissanparts.com. Once I know which one to get I'm pulling the trigger. Then hopefully shortly after I'm getting the Cattman exhaust.

i thought someone may have done this already. curious if you need all the components. if you're super careful, hopefully you can reuse them.

This has been done on a couple 04's ...form what i read you may need to adjust or make a couple small brackets, nothing too serious. And yeah you def. do not want the one with sonar unless you want all those little round things across your back bumber.

Hilbe,

I looked on the enissan site and compared all the bumper parts for the 6th gen and 6.5 gen and the only parts that were different were the energy absorber and the reinforcement piece. all the other parts state 04-07 those other 2 part just state 07. I wonder if you have to use the 07 reinforcement and absorber or can you just use the ones already on the 6th gen bumper.

I'm going to try. I just need to know what the differences are in those 2 bumpers above (no sonar). Then I'll order it and take it to get painted.

It's like this:

Sonar- The system in the 07 max that assists when parking to make sure you dont hit an object.(you wont need that)

W/4 Passenger- Means 4 passenger seating that comes with the elite package. (Center console in the rear, rear heated seats etc.)

W/O 4 Passenger- Means 5 person seating. (No Elite PKG)

So you wont need sonar and the rest is based on what packages you have on your max. I f you have the Elite PKG then you would want the W/4 Pass bumper and if you dont have the Elite PKG then you W/O 4 Pass bumper. Either way you dont need sonar it's only offered on the 07 maxes.

Wonder why the rear bmer is different depending on which rear seats you have though? I got an 07 bumper, still need to get it painted so I'm not much help on install. But I did get one with sonar by mistake and had to exchange it out!!

The Elite Package is available for 2007? I thought they were only made a few years...

Ordered the one w/o 4 passenger w/o sonar. Now I'll have to find a place to get it painted.

You think I can sell the old one with a bunch of dings and a crease or two? I was thinking of just cutting it up and putting it in the trash...

I Was wondering for those who have already bought the 07 bumper cover....when you buy the 07 rear bumper cover, does it come with that lower plastic piece in across the majority of the bumper? I am assuming yes, but i was just making sure.

Does the lower portion come painted that gray color? I am just wondering what color code that is, in case I need to tell the body shop I'm taking it to. I am going to call the best place in town tomorrow to see how much it'll be to get painted...

I happened yesterday to park next to another Spirited Bronze Max, and it happened to be an 07. I stood back and compared bumpers. I thought the 04 bumper looked a lot better. Has anyone else done a side by side comparison?

However, I do think the 07 front end looks better.

So far calling around to the "good" body shops, most places want 300 to 500 to paint that rear bumper. I'm not sure if thats a fair price or not. I still need to figure out what color that lower portion needs to be...

If you want the 2 tone look, it's just a flat black. not many versions of black.

Thank you. I found a shop I'm happy with. I'm still in "processing" status with my order, but I'll setup an appointment as soon as it arrives. Place I'm going ball parked me at $300 to $400 for the 2 tone look.

Hopefully I can get this done before it snows. I will not install this on a wet, dirty, or snow covered garage floor.

A slight setback today. The eNissanParts site wanted another $90 to ship it via freight. I re-ordered it from a similar site that I've used before with the same part management system. http://www.abcnissanwholesale.com. It was $195 shipped. So we'll see if they want more money for shipping too or not.

Crap. ABC Nissan Wholesale wanted $145 in shipping. Anyone else got a good suggestion on where to buy it?

I knew there was a catch to that bumper costing only $170. I cant beleive they want $195 to ship that bumper. The bad part is here where I live you can buy that bumper from the dealership for way less.

Find out how much shipping is to 43054? I have 2 open orders. At least 1 will be canceled.

There is no shipping. I got quoted $246.00 from the parts dept. at my local dealership. Try your dealer to see how much it. To get that 07 bumper painted and install for me at the dealer was $640.

I havent looked around anywhere else yet. I'm hoping I can get it cheaper at another local spot. The funny thing is that I was gonna get my 06 bumper repainted because I scratched it with my umbrella and then get the stillen rear molded on until I found out it would be cheaper for me to just get the 07 bumper.

Found a place in Dayton, OH that has them for $177 + tax. I'm going through there tomorrow anyway, going to pick it up in my Murano. The guy claims he has a non-sonar one ready for me.

SO he has a sonar unit that we can connect to non-sonar cars for 177$??

I found a bumper. These things are NOT cheap to order with freight. Local dealers appear to be the only place to get a decent price.
