parking/emergency brake

has anybody here "accidentally" drove their vehicle with the parking brake ON? What's the worst thing that can happen to your car when this happens?

A little extra brake disc/pad wear and not as much power as youd have without the brake pad. Oh and lower gas milage? That should be pretty much it...

Thanks! Will it affect all 4 brakes or just the rear?

not really. I'd say halfway... ok. tell me if I got it right or not. Leaving the parking brake on while driving would wear the rear brakes faster. This means that if my rear brakes are worn, I would be hearing the "screeching" of the brake wear indicators, correct?

parking brake does not apply pads. it's brake is inside the rotor kinda like a drum.

ok...so if there is indeed damage, would it present itself like "warped" rotors?

thanks NismoMax80

This has been discussed in a few different threads in the past. To my knowledge, like others have already said the rear hub is where the brakes are located so at worst, you'd kill that hub and the shoes in side of it. However, I seriously doubt you have damaged anything. I've done this once or twice for no more than 5 miles and I never had any problems with my rears. Stinks like hell though when you forget to put it down.

How far did you drive with it on? And do you notice the car driving differently?

If not two tears in a bucket. Take it to the dealership and tell them it's broken. Good luck with that though. Most service departments suck with a capital UCK.

I doubt u did any damage. Warping rotors is done by ALOT of heat. or ALOT of heat and sudden cooling (Like driving through water with really hot brakes)
