Please-Opinion On Wheel

I currently have very nice G35 wheels that are 18X8's.

My tires are 255/40/18's. Ideally my wheels would be 9 inches wide.

I wanted to get YOUR opinions of these wheels in 18X9's. I have always loved 5 spoke wheels-especially these.

What do you guys think?

Why not just find some 350Z anniversary rims? Looks something like that.

Kinda like those wheels. Nice design. However, I think you ought to go with
20's at least as 18's may be look too small....

I want to keep the performance and ride quality. Also (a big one), just spent $1200 on my awesome Michelin PS2's. The best tires I have ever owned. If you drove my car you would have to smoke a cigarette afterward. I turn and the tires communicate with you in perfect english. Sometimes I just turn the steering wheel back & forth just to hear them talking. They are extremely quiet and somehow comfy. Needles to say--the tires stay!!!

Another thing about these wheels is notice how the spokes go out to the outer edge. That gives it a bigger appearance. I also like the way they go further out away from the car as the spokes meet the tire.

Here are some 18's on a Altima.

But they're French!!!

I like those wheels, and think 18's are fine; performance/ride quality/ pot holes.

Great idea. Tough to find at a decent price, and I'm looking for at least 8.5 inches wide all the way around.

I sit on stock SE rims myself but id hafta say that those wheels look a little cheap to put on a Max...stick with your G35's and keep looking if you want to upgrade. My .02 .

I like those wheels but they have a euro look that doesn't fit the look of the max imho. That wheel design also makes the wheel look alot smaller than it actually is (i.e. the 18's on the Altima look more like 17's in the first pic).

These wheels are forged and manucatured by RAYS

Thanks my man. I have nothing to lose by testing them out so what the hay? I'm going to try to convince the guy to "temporarily" allow me to toss them on-then take pics to show to you guys. Also check for ride quality and handling. Thanks again sloonts for watching out for a fellow member.

Thanks guys! Based on your feedback and additional thinking on my part I have decided NOT to get these wheels. I am currently checking out the Rays that sloontz suggested. Any thoughts on the Rays would sincerely be appreciated.

Thanks again.

The person selling the 19' Ray wheels is a Tech at the dealership. The wheels are located there.

He is going to slap them on for me to try out before commiting to buying them (you can't beat that). Should be interesting for folks wondering what 19' G35 staggered rays look like on a White 6th Gen Maxima.

I'll post pictures and my own observations of how it rides and handles with these wheels versus 18's wrapped in PS2's.

Stay tuned...

I absolutely have to agree mack (you frikkin' show off).

As previously said, I had the 19' ray's installed, then test drove, and took a few pictures.

Now keep in mind it's not apples and apples due to different kinds of tires, and different amount of wear on the tires. But here goes my impression...

Definetly a bit of a stiffer ride. What was most noticable was the sheer amount of road noise (huge). The Bridgestones make a LOT of noise once they age. The 18's handled and rode better (New PS2's). Better turn in response and smoother.

I know, I know, here are the pics...

Side by side comparison As you can see even tho the 19's are bigger-because the spokes don't go all the way out to the perimeter, they don't look any bigger.

I kept the 18's! As you can see, wheels can make a huge difference in how the car looks.

Ok cool I'm confused now, I thought you were looking at these?

However I'm a big fan of the G35 wheels and I think they look great.

Also, I ran with the Bridgestone Potenza's for awhile myself (stock 350z wheels 225 front & 245 rear) Gawd they rode like $hit! Handled awesome, but when my stock RSA's were MUCHO better that tells ya something. I'll either go with Michelin PS next time or most likely the Goodyear F1 All-Season that's very new on the market and getting great ratings all around. Anyways, stay with the 18's Cool. Looks damn good, won't slow you down, will keep gas mileage reasonable and tires are cheaper, so win win all around. Whatever the case, I'll support ya bro! Car is lookin' sharp. Now about that grill......

p.s. Thanks for the props too!

I appreciate your input Bro. First of all the guy would not go down a dollar. LOL To me the 18's look better. Then I would have to buy new tires soon. I suspected it before, but now I know for sure the 19 inch ray's leave a lot to be desired on our cars in the looks department (IMO). They do however look good on G35's fo sho. I was almost in tears at the infinity dealer, so many g35 coupes, so little money. I was almost embarassed to have my car on the lot. I kept muttering to the salesman "but it's paid off". Then they would quiet a little.
The g37's are simply off-the-frikkin'-hook!!! Almost 50G's tho.

I hear ya loud and clear my man. The RSA's are really under-rated in terms of everyday driving. They do suck big time in the traction department, but excel everywhere else except maybe road noise. Great feel of the road, great fun in moderate driving conditions, and finally, really exceptional ride quality. A really good tire as long as you don't put the pedal to the metal.

If you want a exceptional tire and cost is no concern, get the all season Michelins. I too have heard great things regarding the Goodyear F1's (mucho less money).

BTW "Were" is the key word! Too plain looking (flat). They also don't have that expensive look. I'll keep looking...
