Progress Sway bar Question

Ok so I know this install should be extremely easy(which it was). But now when I go into my driveway and the rear of my car dips low i hear a slight noise. Under further inspection I noticed that my Progress RSB is slighty rubbing on another bar that comes of the rear wheel. (sorta like a control arm). What I am asking is could i have installed the RSB wrong? When I was installing it, it seemed to only fit one way. Any help or tips for installing the RSB correctly would be greatly appreciated. BTW I own a 07 SE.

Thanks,
Anthony

Yes, you could have installed it upside down and backwards. It is possible as I installed it upside down the first time. If it's rubbing anything its backwards.

most likely you put it on backwards. This is such a pisser that Progress can't put a sticker that you are suppose to read from underneath the car.

Here is a design, take note Catman

Left wheel <<<<------------>>>> Right Wheel

If this was placed on the bar where its suppose to be and one was to install it improperly you would either not see it or it would be upside-down.

Jeez so simple yet so complicated.

Do you think I could have damaged one of the arms by driving with the sway against in for 40 miles? (I drove over 2 speed bumps)...I need to correct the sway bar asap, but I just want to know if I may have caused damage to anything, or am I just over reacting?

Reason Progress doesn't include instructions with these is becauase it's very easy to install. You have to be a moron to install it incorrectly. Do you not look at the factory one befrore you remove as refrence...wow. I installed mine just fine the first time...lmao.

Do you have any pictures of your installed bar or anything as a reference to help with my dilemma? I really do not want to hear criticism right now.

your comment was completely uncalled for and useless other than giving yourself a sense of compensation.

OP is a max owner who is learning how to work on cars, just like all of us, we make mistakes. attacking someone asking for help by calling them a "moron" is not how you would have wanted someone to help you out when you were learning how to wrench...

there's no need for pictures, just mark your sway bar at one end, or remember how it is on right now... take it off and switch it around. There is only 1 other way that bar will fit. if you put it on wrong the first time, then as long as you don't put it back on the same way you will have it right.

let us know how that works.

Thank you for the encouragement guys...I hope to do it tonight. My plan is to mark top right side with a black marker, and if I flip it, that black mark should end up on the bottom side on the left hand side of the car...(I hope that solves it)...

Also, guys, do you think I caused any damage to the arm links or anything else because of the incorrect placement of the sway bar and 40 miles being driven on it this way...(I really hope not)...

that should do the trick, and don't worry about the haters who discourage or insult our .org members, they've got real psychosocial problems unlike our trivial car problems, and you can be assured for that reason as a person you are better than them. just look down at them with pity, appreciate your life and your self esteem compared to theirs, and move on.

Guys, I did not get a chance to take the sway bar out...I am afraid to drive the car if the sway bar is rubbing against the metal arm...can I still drive it tomorrow to work, or should I hold off until fixed? Please let me know...sh*t sorry for being over cautious, this was my first major project on the car...

You must be the public defender around here. I wasn't attacking anyone, just stating a fact. To be good at wrenching anything, you have to pay attention, see what's going on before you take it apart. If I was attacking him, it would have been a lot worse. Nobody taught me how to wrench anything, learned it all on my own, and back then there were no forums or videos on how to do something like they are available now in days. Maybe that's why I learned better, nobody to spoon feed me "How to" instructions and videos. Oh and people did tell me that I sucked at certain things but that motivated me, I didn't get butt hurt. People are too sensitive these days, bunch of wussies.

Also, there are times when an RSB will creak during flex (non-rubbing) even if installed correctly which is why for every RSB install I've done (mine and others), I like to hit all the bracketry with WD-40 for peace of mind.

Could you share your knowledge on the sway bar subject? Do you think I wll cause damage to anything if I drive to work tomorrow with the car while the bar rubs against one of the lower arms that attach to the rear wheel (same situation as the original post on this thread)? I did not have a chance to fix it today, and now I am worried to drive the car to work tomorrow.

Im not as familiar with the 6th gen rear axle....can you get a pic of what exactly its rubbing on? If its irking you, then take it off for now. Removal is much quicker and easier than installation.

At the most, removal should take 30 mins. IMHO I say get up a little earlier and take it off.

be careful doing any spirited driving while its off, your car will handle very different with no sway bar and it might catch you off guard.

You are probably rubbing on the sway bar links. It could possibly damage it, bend it. This is a 30 minute fix, if that. I would fix it before you go and damage something and then have to buy it to replace it. Another thing, when I replaced my RSB, I also replaced both links. Kind of like doing lowering springs and getting new struts/shocks in one shot.
