Transmission Leak

I posted this in another thread and decided I would rather have my own thread for diagnosis. I was under my car last night and noticed what appeared to be a transmission leak. I'm not a transmission guy and don't claim to be a mechanic so I was hoping someone would know for sure. Below is what I saw.

What do you guys think? Also, how do they (Nissan) handle these fixes? I have 57k miles on my car. I'm just wondering if they replace the transmission, fix it somehow, or what? Also how long does it take to replace a transmission?

There's a TSB for an A/T leak, but i'm not sure if this is your case.

NTB05-055 5 SPEED FWD A/T LEFT SIDE OIL LEAK DIAGNOSTIC

"APPLIED VEHICLES: 2005 Altima (L31),
2004 - 2005 Quest (V42),
2004 - 2005 Maxima (A34)
APPLIED ENGINE : VQ35
APPLIED TRANSMISSION: 5AT
IF YOU CONFIRM
The transmission on the applied vehicle appears to have oil seepage or a leak on the left
side of the transmission (front of the vehicle).
NOTE: Be on the look out for:
• corrosion protection chemicals sprayed on the transmission
and/or
• lubricants which are sometimes used to ease the assembly process.
These may cause dust to accumulate (gather) on the left side of the transmission and
have the appearance of an oil leak......"

The picture is from the front, right behind where the bumper plastic ends. I just stuck my head/camera under there from near the license plate mounting.

Do the TSB's have a recommended resolution? Just curious. I have to take it in here shortly and want to know my stuff. My stealership is TERRIBLE for service.

Thanks. I pulled this PDF up on my ipod and showed the tech. Ended up being a leaky gasket. $245 to fix. Waiting now in the waiting room.

No it was not. They are actually keeping my baby overnight to let the sealant cure.

Know what was funny is the tech noticed a metal on metal noise. I ended up having the cracked metal bracket that attaches to the end of one of the headers. They're going to to take that thing off for me in the morning.

Powertrain apparently only covers things "internal to the transmission" according to the stealership. Since it was a gasket, not covered. In the gray area if you ask me...
