Transmission Leak

Transmission Leak
I posted this in another thread and decided I would rather have my own thread for diagnosis. I was under my car last night and noticed what appeared to be a transmission leak. I'm not a transmission guy and don't claim to be a mechanic so I was hoping someone would know for sure. Below is what I saw.
What do you guys think? Also, how do they (Nissan) handle these fixes? I have 57k miles on my car. I'm just wondering if they replace the transmission, fix it somehow, or what? Also how long does it take to replace a transmission?

There's a TSB for an A/T leak, but i'm not sure if this is your case.
NTB05-055 5 SPEED FWD A/T LEFT SIDE OIL LEAK DIAGNOSTIC
"APPLIED VEHICLES: 2005 Altima (L31),
2004 - 2005 Quest (V42),
2004 - 2005 Maxima (A34)
APPLIED ENGINE : VQ35
APPLIED TRANSMISSION: 5AT
IF YOU CONFIRM
The transmission on the applied vehicle appears to have oil seepage or a leak on the left
side of the transmission (front of the vehicle).
NOTE: Be on the look out for:
• corrosion protection chemicals sprayed on the transmission
and/or
• lubricants which are sometimes used to ease the assembly process.
These may cause dust to accumulate (gather) on the left side of the transmission and
have the appearance of an oil leak......"

I took I quick look yesterday in the snow this sux man cold as hell. LOL
But the only thing up there that could leak down there is the valve cover,I wuold run it over to the dealer and let them look, they will probally just clean of the area and send you on your way to come back in a week unless it leaks there for them. Just let me know how it goes.

i have a similar problem. my 1995 maxima has a tranny leak because the seal between the bell and the tranny. i just need replace the seal and keep my eye on the tranny oil. it could also be a drive axle that isn't seated right.

No it was not. They are actually keeping my baby overnight to let the sealant cure.
Know what was funny is the tech noticed a metal on metal noise. I ended up having the cracked metal bracket that attaches to the end of one of the headers. They're going to to take that thing off for me in the morning.

Powertrain apparently only covers things "internal to the transmission" according to the stealership. Since it was a gasket, not covered. In the gray area if you ask me...

I was in the business for years gasket on the tranny or engine are drice train, hell I have replaed spark plugs under drive train. I would fight the bill with Nissan there is no way you should have paid.
