Real Leather?

Is the leather in our cars real leather?

What about others like chevy and ford, do they use real leather?

I'm pretty sure it's real leather in the 6th gens, chevy and ford might have optional leather or leatherette but i'm not too sure.

Most manufacturers that offer cloth and then leather as an optional use actual leather in their seats. Its only those that don't offer cloth as an interior that offer leatherette like MB Tex.

Only the front part where you sit are real, if that's what you're talking about.

sides and backs of seats are not real. any part you touch while driving is real including ebrake, wheel, and arm rest.

you have just confirmed my suspision. Its the same trick used in cheap leather sofas and a lot of people think that the whole thing is leather. You don't even know how many times I had this argument with someone but nobody want's me to cut it open and show them (I wonder why)

I personally recommend Leather boots for e-brake and stick shift if you have it from redlinegoods.com. It looks awesome, matches the interior 100% and covers that cheap rubber/plastic OEM thingy. Highly Recommended and not expensive.

Here is a link I just found.

Only highend European car models have leather covering the whole seats, door inserts, etc., and their less expensive models have full leather as option for $2-3k. I remember test drove current models Lexus GS and Infiniti M, they are only partial leather too. I'm not sure about the LS or Q45.

I know for a fact that the rear's seat bottom is leather. When I bought my Max it had a slit in the leather. They tried to repair it and of course it looked like crap so I had them put new leather on the seat. IIRC it was @ $1400 for the piece of leather that they charged back to Nissan. I saw the piece before they put it on and you can see the underside of it and tell that it was real and not the leatherette material that I had in my 2002 Acura TL.
