looks pretty nice ... what did you use to cut the hole bigger? I'm guessing you used the original bezel?
I like that location too.

I want one of these as well. Even though I already have a the factory Navi system (Elite Package), I wouldn't mind having a second option for a Navi system. This looks very clean. Did you use that metra kit?

Welcome to the D3 club...
You should move the info screen down now!! Get that IPOD plug, that's the best feature of the D3 for sure!!!

I would like to do this with a carputer system, with the screen mounted where the info screen comes stock, but whats the viewablity of the info screen once you place it in the lower cubby hole?

Thanks, yours too, have fun with that unit. It's really is a lot of stereo for the price. And man do we need to find someone to do this LED upgrade again, seeing that orange takes me way back!!!

Pioneer AVIC-D3X Package (Bundle)

Hello-Crutchfield has a sweet deal for the AVIC-D3X right now and they include the Ipod adapter and the BT adapter for $799! I have an 07' Max and I'm wondering if it it'll work with my Max. Will this fit? According to Crutchfield, it won't.. Also, if it does fit, what harness will i need and/or kits to install this unit. Stearing wheel controls-is there an option available to preserve these and work with the AVIC-D3x? I appreciate any assistance..Thx

Crutchfield rarely has correct info for fitment, at least that's what i have found. I don't have an 07 but here's a pic (so yes it will fit)

Thanks for the PIC! I wonder if the info screen works for the 07' you included a picture of. Any way to find out? That's a nother concern for me by removing the factory unit. My understanding is that the A/C info screen (smaller display on top for 07's) will continue to work but the bigger one (below the A/C info display) will not work at all. I seem to remember someone stating that they had found a way around this. Can anyone confirm?

Thanks again for Pic.

Put it in the garage in a box...
(I haven't put a CD in my D3 since I bought it, besides the NAV disc, all my movies and music are on my IPOD)

Here's my install. It took me so long to cut that double din and smooth out the edges, to then come to find I needed to take more off the bottom and less off of the top. As you can see here. ARHHHH!

darkmeth to answer your question if u purchase the D3X from crutchfeild they will send you an interface harness and antenna adapter. you will then need the metra double din kit seperate. and you will also need the PAC-SWI to keep steering wheel controls. if anyone has any questions feel free to PM me, i installed the D3X package in my 07 myself. it took all dam day but only because i took my time soldering an tapping the reverse gear wire and VSS wire properly. the bypass is a simple proceedure. no switches need to be added if you do it right. i strongly urge ppl to install it them selves. the only wires you solder are the wires on the integration harness for the speakers and the constant an ACC. wire taps are used for the bypass, reverse gear and VSS. the entire dash an radio for the 07 is held together by 6 srews, thats it. If you take your time, do some research anyone can install this radio or any other after market one. (it does help i spent 6 years as a helicopter electrician for the army) but thats besides the point! this is easy stuff ppl.

Oh an by the way although it is not needed for the navi to work tapping into the VSS is something else i also recommend doing. it makes ur navi extermely precise an adds a host of other features to ur unit like lat acceleration an electronic speedo on the radio itself. neat stuff IMO. But once again it IS NOT needed for the nav to work.

I installed a D3 in my 04' Max a couple months ago. Everything works great, did the bypass and everything. Never was able to locate the VSS wire though so that's not currently hooked up. Can anyone shed some light on where the wire is located for me? I didn't realize the hookup would add other features.
