Damaged bumper...... please help

Stupid me..... scratched my bumper when I hit a poll at night a few days ago . There are 3 small cracks and the fog light broke (the housing seems ok but the bulb broke). Went to the stealership but they ask for $650 to get a new bumper and paint it.

Can anyone give me a better suggestion? I live in NY.

Thanks in advance

Damn homey, how did you manage to pull that one off???

I assume the bumper costs about the $300 price range and a paint job could probably cost you the same, or a bit less. I hate to even say this, but it sounds as though the dealership's price isn't all that bad considering the bumper will be painted as well.

You could try looking online, but good luck on that one. I'm actually in the "market" for a bumper like yours and I've tried every resource online and haven't found anything whatsoever! Maybe a junkyard? Even though I don't know how good of a condition you might find a front bumper in there.

Good luck and if you by any chance happen to find one online, please inform me.

This site is the cheapest site for every part that I have needed. Let me know if you would get it from this site because I can maybe get you free shipping from a guy over on my350z.com that will also match that price. Not guaranteed, but you get it.

I copped the 07 bumper on eBay for 50 bucks! Find someone to paint it for you, and you're set!

If I change the bumper completely, then $650 is not that bad of a price.....but to save money I was wondering if I can take it to someone who can put some clay on it ...sand it and match the paint.... I know its tough to match the pain.....but still trying my luck before I spend that $650.

bondo*

Your car is pretty much brand new, so paint fade shouldn't be an issue and any good body shop should easily match your paint with Nissan's paint code

Look what I found!!!!

.....it seems as though this thread was a blessing in disguise because I honestly could say I've been looking for that bumper all over the place on the internet for the past 4-5days and had no luck and now I end up with one with the same deal as MissMiami got with hers.

Scroll down and look at the picture of the passenger side...the bottom part is dented/bent/whatever you want to call it.

....you do have a point, didn't see that when I initially found that auction. I would imagine that a body shop would be able to fix that though, no?

If I were you, then I would just wait around for another posting...unless you NEED it right now.

Yeah, a body shop would probably fix it...by popping that out, then maybe bondoing w/e is cracked then more paint maybe? idk...too much thinking and will pay more than you should for THAT bumper so pass it IMO

Search junk yards in your area...you may even be lucky enough to find one in your color.

Won't find one in my color because as I learned earlier this evening the "Liquid Silver" color doesn't exist with the '07-'08 Maximas. Anyways, I think that link you provided is good enough. Atleast with that site I know I'm getting something brand new, with no damages whatsoever, plus the price itself is cheap.

yaup yaup...browse these forums for all the Nissan reps and see if they can price match/free shipping...because the shipping for that thing will hurt you...

Their regular shipping option is just $17. That's not expensive at all.

Oh wow...nvm then

Figured it would be a lot because of the huge box...(free shipping=$17 saved=about 1/3 tank of gas )

I guess since they don't weigh much that weight factored in in the shipping cost? How much should I be looking for to get charged by the body shop when it comes to the paint?

I was quoted $250 for a trunk on a black Hyundai Elantra...this would be a "hooked up" price too because it would go through my work, so I would safely assume around $300ish for the bumper at a quality shop.

That bumper is done. Dealer's price is not that much overboard especially in NY. Recently I got a steal of the month by getting new front bumper factory painted (my color) for $140, but that doesn't normally happen.

Good luck and yeah, watch out for those poles.

I have a question. My front bumper has a wide scratch on it. I know that it has not gone through the paint, it just makes it like a whitish color from the rubbing. My question is what type of paint would be best to cover up the scratch for my black 06 maxima? Any suggestions or brands would be great help.

No worries man! Just get enough contributing posts here so you can start your own threads, and you are golden... I'm in Northbrook... not far from you! PM me if you wouldn't mind driving an hour-ish to St. Charles to get that bumper re-finished for $200-250ish...

To utas... don't bother with a patch job. Just fork over the $ for a new bumper and paint job. Let the dealer do it for you... that actually doesn't seem like too bad of a deal.

And consider this an expensive lesson. lol

THats more than a scratch bro thats 1,000 scratches and some cracks. I have two 3" lines scratched into mine right in front and was quoted $500 to replace the whole bumper rather than repaint and touchup paint sounded alot better so thats how it is. Your hit cant go that route.

I have the same problem. Some lady decided to stop in the middle of a right hand turn at a stop sign and I re-ended her. I was absolutely amazed at how the force of the impact was absorbed by my 07 Maxima. Here's the pics.

As you can see the damage was minimal in comparison to Mr. New Jersey poll. I'm going to use it as an opportunity to slap on new ground effects. I was looking at the structural damage underneath and alot of pin connections on my bumper cover got sheared in half especially the connections between the grill and the bumper cover so I'll probably have to replace all that too. I tried looking for a 07 maxima parts list or repair manual but no luck.

Anyone know of anywhere I could get a technical hook-up for the mechanical details of my max, or is it just too early for that type of stuff to be out for an 07?

Right now I'm looking at the 1k sarona kit. Anyone have any other suggestions for the replacement?
