TRANS FLUSH!

okay i went to the stealership and bought 10 quarts of Kmatic fluid now i cant find anyone to flush the tranny for me i called a few transmission shops that said they wont touch it and then i found a shop that said sure we can do it! So when i get to the shop and one of the mechanics starts the procedure BUT he couldnt find the 2 lines or hoses so he could do the flush so the manager tells me to come back monday because the guy who knows where the 2 lines are was off work today! Is it really this difficult to get my tranny flushed im at 50,000 and its time! The fluid is dark but it does not smell burnt and the tranny is shifting fine! If anybody have had a flush please help!

My tech said that they don't do flushes on the 6th gen; what they do is just drain/refill 3 times.

Umm we just unbolt the screw and let it drain out , we dont have a machine to flush it out... just drain it out.. I had to do this twice in one month , Your Torque convertor holds at least 2-3qts in there , so the first flush gets some of it out , the second gets all the nasty black fliud out (* well mines anyways*)

try to search.

you would have found we have to drain and fill. Not flushable, tho someone claimed it can be done now.

Yes it is flushable. There is a machine that does it at my dealership.

Yep, the 6th gen tranny is now flushable (although I've read here that it is not advisable unless as a last-resort option for fear of damaging certain parts?). I think about March of 2007 my dealership said that they got the proper nozzles for interfacing with the tranny, before that all they could do was flush and fill.

I have already had the dealership to do the normal drain and fill when i reached 30,000 miles! NOW that im at 50,000 miles its time to change again i dont want to just change 4 quarts i want to change all ten! thats probally why its so dark already! So i just was wondering if anybody else had there 6th gen tranny flushed and were ther any bad results!

There's a K-matic and a D-matic I believe. On is for the 4 speed and the other is for the 5 speed Tranny. Make sure you get the correct one.

trans flush

Since I couldn't find anyone else in town to help me, I went to the dealer for a trans flush and they told me they don't touch the 5-speed auto until 60k miles, the K-matic fluid is 25 bucks a quart with 10 needed and the service fee is $150. For a total of $400.
I currently have 45k on my 04 SE.

Shouldn't the trans fluid be drained and fill at least???

Hey all, I brought my 2005 SL in for 30K servicing today, and the service manager just called recommending I do a transmission fluid flush for $279 in addition to the 30k service.

Does that sound right, or are they just looking to separate me from more of my $$$.

BTW, I'm not mechanically inclined, so I don't think it is something I can do myself.

tranny flush should be included in the 30k service. They probabley quoted you the 30k then realized that it has matic k not D. We use matic k or BG synthetic fluid, we also use the BG tranny flush machine to flush them.

The line item on 30K service schedule regarding transmission fluid reads as follows:

"Drain and fill transmission fluid. (Power flush and fluid exchange recommended. May include free protection plan. See service advisor for details.)

Anyway, I brought it in for the scheduled 30K service, ($499) and the service mgr called me at work a few hours later pushing/recommending the tranny flush for $279 additional, for a total of $779 plus tax.

I told them not to do the flush at this time, as I feel like they are fishing for dollars.

While it's not totally related, they also tried to get me to change the in cabin air filter for $79, specifically telling me that "it was clogged". They backed off that claim when I told him that I just changed it myself less than 6 months ago and that it was highly unlikely that it was "clogged". But in this case they were flat out lying to me, there is no way they even looked at that, which makes me very hesitant to do any additional recommended services.

when i had my 30k service done the dealer called me saying i needed belts and i ask how much would it be and they said $150 more and i was like no way and i declined. So you have to be very carefull also you should've ask them to compensate the difference in price between the flush and the drainand refill. Also with my 30k i declined the tire rotation as i had put new tires on about 200 miles before. Bottom line is if your dealer is willing to work with you then you can make changes to what you need and don't need in the 30k service. Hopes this helps. I guess it's too late for this statement but in the future you can shop different dealers because some of them do a trans flush with 30k service and some do a drain and fill. i went to one that did a flush because it was reccomended to me by my regular dealer and they do drain and fill.

$279 for a flushed tranny is not bad for the dealer...I think I paid $249 and that was using their "machine" for the flushing and complete refill. I did mine at 30K...small price to pay for longevity especially with people complaining about their trannys failing.

Well, not so quick. The term "stealership" seems to be getting ever more appropriate for my dealership/service center.

While the schedule of services I had listed "drain and fill transmission" under the 30K service, when I picked up my car and asked about this I was informed that my copy of that service schedule was outdated, and the "drain and fill" was no longer included in the 30K service. Sure enough, when I looked at a new copy of the service schedule, it was nowhere to be found. So, I'm paying more $$$ for less service. Strike #2.

To rub salt in the wound, when I questioned the service mgr about the tranny flush, it turns out that $279 figure is actually for a drain and fill, as they don't do the "power flush" there. Strike #3.

Needless to say, I won't be doing the tranny service there. I'll get the necessary supplies and let a local mechanic that I can actually trust do the drain and fill.

wow that is a lot of money to drain and fill at the dealership, when drain and fill is essentially as difficult as a regular oil change...and is this K-matic fluid synthetic? cause its really pricey and isn't Amsoil ATF cheaper and its prob a lot better..

I'm lookin to do a tranny flush not using machine, but by removing fluid via the cooling lines to the rad...has anyone attempted this?..I have heard you can get most of the fluid out this way...

is it hard to do it yourself? when you guys say to drain and refill, do you drain out all of it first or do you do a certain amount at a time?

Drain all that you can at first. Some will still stay in the tranny and torque conmverter. Repeat. Make sure ofcourse before you do it a second time to run the car to get the fluid mixed again though.
