Trunk support struts?

NE1 know of an aftermarket supplier? AutoZone has them, but, not for the Maxima...

I wish the Maxima trunk was feather weight like my old Altima. When I pushe the button I hear the click but it doesn't really pop up a little like my Altima did. Maybe some aftermarket strut would help that?

Since I added my WRX spoiler, my trunk slams shut too easily. I wish there were heavy duty struts available.

I happen to like the way my Max trunk works (no spoiler). I don't want it to pop up, just to unlock. It does just that. You have to look carefully to determine if it is open.

My 96 taurus was nice, when you press the button to pop the trunk, it popped all the way open.

I asked this question a while ago...I'm still looking for trunk struts to put on so the trunk closes much more slower. If I lift it just below half way...it will slam, and I don't have the spoiler. I don't mind it not popping up when I click it, but if your not careful...you can slam your hand in the trunk when letting it go...as this almost happend with my daughter...thank God for a can of Pringles I was holding that saved her hand!

I agree with you guys. I remember the first day I got my car, I was still in the dealership parking lot with my dad and the salesman, and we had just bought some carpet mats for my car, and were going to place the trunk mat in. The salesman was trying to open the trunk forever, then finally realized that it was open...

Trunk struts weak...

Is that normal? When I pop the trunk, it only clicks and doesnt raise, then I have to raise it and it's kinda hard, but to close it I just give it a little push and BAM it closes.

Normal?

Were you under the impression that our trunks opened automatically like in most high end vehicles? Wrong assumption to make. You manually have to lift the trunk. The raising of the trunk isn't "hard". I don't know what's hard of pushing an unlocked trunk lid upwards. Guess you might feel it heavy? As for the closing. Again, you have to manuall do it, otherwise, it'll slam shut.

I always thought that was a really good eng. design from Max.... that the trunk does not pop open ..... really good when u click from far (or even if you have accidently hit the remote)..... as compared to all the other cars ... where you are telling the world .. hey my trunk is open!!!

Maybe the struts are dead because when I lift it, I feel like strut resistance.

Would that be covered under warranty?

have you thought about taking a trip to a dealer and asking them? or even call? I would be interested in their reaction.

oh and might as well take a list. better than driving back and forth for every question. not as quick and easy as posting a new thread for every question, ya know?

Trunk is heavy. Will not pop like other cars (my wife's altima for instance). You could probably put new struts that would pop it open. Who knows what to do.
