need a quick answer to a basic 6th gen question....help!
Someone I know locally had their new 2004 Maxima stolen just shortly after they had bought it. They had stopped into a pharmacy and were only away from the car for minutes and it was gone. My question is, do 6th gens come with chipped keys? ...do they all have chipped keys, or did some come without? Anyone?

Hmm I know you need the key to get in and start. Ive started my car though walked in the house and it still was ruinning. I also drove about 5 cars down with out the key ansd it staye running. Dont have a good answer for oyu.

All 6gen have a chip key, unfortunately many people dont realize if you do get a remote start for you car it is bypassed. If that is the case in this situation. Even if it isnt, fact remains the same.

Yes, you are correct. The fact is that the spare key or module wired to the alarm, which sends the signal to the ecu, now thinks the chip is always connected. Hence, the thief rips your ignition out and sticks a screw driver in there and they're off with your car.

Remote Start/Kill Switch
Sorry to hear your friend got jacked.
I have heard the same about remote starts that you will have to get an extra chipped key or leave one of you keys in the car so that your car recognizes the key is in there so the remote starts work.......
Another thing i thought about the other day is when the stock alarm is set off in 04 Maxima's are you able to start the car. Hence I was in the car made the alarm go off and tried to start and it did. I'm guessing our cars don't have a immobilizer when the alarm is set off or even if you arm it and try to start the car.
WHAT USE IS THE ALARM ON THE CAR IF IT DOESN"T OFFER THAT.
Just an observation, I know on Acuras if you get in lock your doors before starting the car the car doesn't start. or if you set it off and try to start the car either way.
Great alarm system, anybody with feedback would be awesome.
DOES ANYBODY RECOMMEND AN AFTERMARKET ALARM that offers immobilizer, and other great options, remote start (NOT A BIG FAN)
