6 Speed vs Automatic question

6 Speed vs Automatic question
Hey guys,
I know someone on here will know how to answer this questions, I have a 2006 Maxima that I just paid off and originally wanted this car to be manual but it is automatic. My question is, how hard and how expensive is it to change this car to a 6 speed manual transmission? Since the car is paid off I am willing to spend the extra cash to do this since I plan on having this car for a while. I know it will be better (for me) to have this car running with a manual transmission once I install a turbo kit later in the year. Please inform me with any input you guys have on this topic. I hope this wasn't already asked on the forum because I searched for this type of question but had no luck. Thanks in advance.

You can find the tranny for about $1,000-1,300 complete with slaves, cvs, pedals
Labor is around $500-800
I have most of the parts expect the tranny to do the swap.
should be less than $2gs , Auto Rebuilt will cost me $2,000-2,500

I am going through with it if it's going to be under $2500. I've been wanting to do this but was waiting till I paid the car off and wanted to get a daily driver and start my project. Anyone know of any shops in Florida that would be willing to take a project on like this?

I would nt do it. Just sell the car. This is what i would do and you are hearing from someone that has an MBA, #1 I would sell the car #2 get a different Max if you really like Maximas and make sure its a 6spd this time #3 that 2-3k that you were trying to invest for the trannyswap put it twoards a good *** turbo kit. With the way that ecomony is going you can find a good 04,05, or 06 max for about 15-18k maximum.

He did say he wanted to keep it for a while.
And to add to that, you will be stuck with a car that wont start since you need to get a 6MT ECU, and my guess is that the ECU wont be from your car, so the immobilizer will need to be looked at.
In the meantime, start looking for parts on www.car-part.com.
Use the thread in the All Motor section regarding tranny swaps, as the part list should be VERY similar.

I want to keep it because I paid it off already and I don't mind putting it down and doing it the right way. Nizmo, how far is your shop? I don't mind taking a road trip.
