Bumper cover dented

Well, the wife got tired of waiting at the stop sign and decided to push the girl in front of her out of the way. That scene from Fried Green Tomatoes comes to mind.

Can this just be popped out and painted or does it have to be replaced? If I have to replace it, where is the best place to get an OEM unit?

I guess it can be knocked out and repainted. I hope when I visit Nashville in a few months that I don't get in front of your wife.

Pop and paint, it will be fine. You might even get away with a blend job if it isnt too cracked up. Good luck!

Easy fix, I had a dent on my rear bumper the size of two basketballs..Take a hair dryer, and heat that part of the bumper for about 4 minutes..then take a compressed air can, turn it upside down, and blast it on there...Then from under the bumper get ur hand to where the dent is, and push outwards..work perfectly..

Thanks for the responses. The insurance comapany is saying to replace it, but I was hoping not to. I am going to take to a couple of shops I trust and see what they say.

Hey ramberg, if the Maxima is in the shop when your in Music City, she will most likely be driving the 2500 HD D-Max, so watch out! .

It's a good thing she wasn't driving it when this happened!

What does the compressed air do?

Can't get to this area, I tried, without taking the cover off. Doesn't sound that hard to do, just to tired tonight to do it!

Honestly I don't think you need the air, but it worked for me..I guess the plastic going from hot to instant cold makes it flexible..Trust me, when I did this to my rear bumper, one little push with my hand, and the whole thing just poped out...The heat really makes it flexible, I just read about the compressed air, so I used it.

you have to take the bumper off.

the heat allows the plastic to flex, and the compressed air causes a quick shrinking reaction....sometimes bringing the plastic back to its original place.

It's in the same isle as the blinker fluid.

I have to agree. Went by the body shop and that is what they said. $ 650 for a new one painted and all. That's $ 100 less than the insurance estimate. The cover is $ 250 on it's own. I would still have to take it off, get it painted, and get it back on without damaging it, so I am gonna let the pro's handle this one.

Thanks guys!

Mostly time. Checked some local salvage yards, nothing. It is also the wifes car, so I don't really want to hear about how long it took me, didn't do it right, etc.

I need to spend my time on the 96, needs new struts and lots of bushings, and my truck which needs pitman and idler arms!
